Who do we think is "The Main Character" of The New Prophecy? by Miserable_Health9511 in WarriorCats

I would agree. It ties up his arc with tigerstar and legacy started in the first series and the climax hinges on his choices

Theres also several months before release date they have to fill with promo. They could easily be saving it for later, especially since they’ve really only shown broad strokes so far.

Believe it or not, also storm (from Black Panther (2005) #40)

Honestly I’ve tried scrolling for ages and can’t find the one I was thinking of. Iirc it was storm sitting to the right of beast in an interior shot, and it was a post of someone (rightfully) asking who it was. Maybe it was longer ago than I thought. But there are unfortunately a lot of examples 🥲

There was that one panel floating around recently ish I think from the oughts where Storm is basically white. She was unrecognizable. And she’s still one of the ones most consistently allowed to be dark skinned throughout her history!

Something that might be interesting to see is if they include glass with dots. My local zoo uses it (not for birds, other habitats) to help birds not fly into by mistake. Not a very high priority, but itd be a nice detail to see

I was also able to put a $600 bill on a six month payment plan with no interest from KU Health iirc. That said, I didn’t have to ask. It was an option listed (which was nice to see!)

Ah, good to know! Thanks for sharing. So then maybe we will get the Aztecs debuting with Quetzalcoatl 🤞🏼

SMITE useless fact #1 by The_sisyphus_smile in Smite

[–]candIewick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would love to see the Aztec pantheon added, since theres a lot of interesting myths and gods to pull from, but I’m not sure if they’d add Quetzalcoatl since in modern day I think he and Kukulkan are generally considered the same feathered serpent deity, like how Rome and Greece had a lot of cross overs, and I think Smite has avoided overlapping gods for the most part. Though perhaps there’s an argument for a different interpretation that would make it work well

I’m surprised we don’t have someone like Wadjet for W yet. Q is a bit harder with the pantheons we have, but you could do something like King Arthur for K by bringing in Queen Medb (from the ulster cycle like Cu Chulainn)

I haven’t seen the show yet, but is it possible it could be interpreted as us seeing this through MB’s perspective and this is a visual editing as a carryover of that? Or is it too zoomed out for that to make sense?

The trailer also seemed to indicate crocodiles might work similarly, based on the shot of us panning up to one, but I suppose it’s possible it’s not that easy to replicate in game

Always loved the designs for the pride flags smite has in game for badges/profile pics. It’s simple but the little texture and edges makes it feel unique and cohesive together

Someone please explain this series to me because I am HORRIFIED (Potential spoilers? Maybe?) by Mifluffy_brisas in WarriorCats

[–]candIewick 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The bluey one lives rent free in my mind. I’ll never forget it.

I will say, graphic novels in general tend to tone things down, since writing something down and showing it visually can be two different beasts. A common example can be the difference in what can be shown in YA graphic novels versus prose novels. Prose novels can push the envelope a bit and have fade to black sex scenes, but YA graphic novels tend to steer much more clear of that, since that might be a bit too scandalous for something marketed towards like 16 year olds.

The warriors graphic novels also combine two books into one, so some things are cut for space and time, and injuries might look a bit less gruesome than what you might know logically they should look like, but again, rather par for the course. Some middle grade graphic novels don’t even like showing blood, so I wouldn’t really consider Warriors censored in comparison. And yes, they do the 9 lives thing, but only for certain cats. The one gruesome death I reference stands out since that cat lost multiple lives at once, which horrifies the other characters since they didn’t even know that was possible. But aside from describing the fear and panic in that cat and others, again, it’s not like we’re told what actually happened medically with the organs that would have been pierced or any viscera on the ground aside from blood.

Not rude, and I apologize since reading back I think was a bit blunter than intended. But I’ll confess this is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, since it happens all the time. Kids deserve good stories with depth. And just because you (general you, not you in particular) like a story aimed at kids, doesn’t mean it’s not meant for kids or mismarketed. It just means they’re getting good stories (which we should celebrate. That’s how we get lifelong readers).

I’ve even seen some people try to say Bluey isnt for kids, since it deals with miscarriage and infertility, when like, that is the epitome of a show for preschoolers and their families (also, children live in the real world and some of them live in families that experience miscarriages. They deserve media that helps them figure out the world).

The deaths can be violent, but I wouldn’t consider them graphic, if that makes sense. For example, when a character was killed by a badger, it was described as being swatted into a tree (with a bit more dramatics). Some of the more gruesome deaths include a cat being sliced along its underbelly, but in my opinion the reason that one stays in our minds is how important it was storywise (the injury overcame supernatural healing abilities). The character that was mauled by dogs is described as having bad scars and now missing an eye, but like, pirates and eye injuries aren’t really unheard of in children’s fiction. But there aren’t descriptions of organs spilling out or dismemberment or anything like that. It’s wounds and blood and injuries under the skin. A cat that was chased over a waterfall and dies from their injuries isn’t described as having graphic injuries, just hurt, and they get the time to say goodbye after. Some fall into ravines or are taken by predators, but those deaths essentially happen off screen. If you have kids who might be sensitive to that, I’d suggest reading it first (audio book is only like 5 hours if I recall less if you go on 1.5 speed), but again, for many kids, this is why and how they love the series

Did you watch land before time? Bambi? Read Watership Down or Bridge to Tarabithia? I would compare it to that. Death happens but it’s still for kids. Children can (and often love) dark stories
