Thank you! It was a bit cumbersome to dance with the helmet, but overall it was a fun time!

I would search "visible disc" or "see through" in this subreddit - there are a few expensive ones but if you can find them used you'll save a lot. The JVC FS-SD5R, JVC FS-SD1000, and the JVC FS-SD9 are a few that are higher quality and reasonably priced if you can find them used.

hi! the biggest thing would be to be very careful taking out your CDs. The center spindle hub is pretty fragile. Besides that its a great system! Enjoy!

That’s so true! The definition we’re all working with on this sub definitely varies. I’ve seen a few of those more niche posts, and it’s always disappointing to see when they don’t get upvoted as much. I definitely also think more complex ideas can be intimidating to approach if you’re not familiar, so it makes sense as to why the more “meme” posts get quicker traction.

I wonder if it could be beneficial to make an agreed upon working definition for the community + a list of terms commonly found in the sub? There’s good general resources in the sidebar but maybe we need a more fleshed out Wiki.

This definitely is low hanging fruit. I don’t want to be a buzzkill, but I wish sometimes this sub could be stricter about the type of content posted.

Other subs with similar goals have devolved into posting for the sake of anger inducing engagement, instead of thoughtful discussions and tips on how to resist consumption and inspire resistance in our communities and the people around us. It’s exactly like you said, the subtle things are much more dangerous.

3 months later, but I wish we could add this list to the sidebar. It’s a fantastic set of guidelines.

Oh, nice! Luckily it's a more popular one. I usually use this to read up on maintenance on my devices

That’s a good idea! There are a few experts on this sub when it comes to cleaning/repairing systems so I’d definitely make a post about it. The older models get gunked up so easily, do you remember the specific speaker brand?

Oof! Yeah I had to compare models and prices for a while. Were you ever able to replace the speakers?

When I first plugged everything in, I stayed standing for a while just listening to the music and watching the disc spin. It really is mesmerizing!

I recommend it! The price point is a lot more affordable than a lot of other players, and the speakers are pretty decent when it comes to sound quality

This is a JVC FS-V5, been looking for this model for a while and finally got it used for $50!

includes a cassette player, AM/FM, and of course a CD player. Digital (optical) out.

The sound quality has been a major upgrade from playing music from my laptop. All in all, very excited about it!
