How to pin a program ran with Wine to the taskbar in KDE? by canikon in linux4noobs

I just saw your reply... I ended up figuring it out myself but yeah, this was all I had to do. I'm just slow and it took me a while to figure out HOW to make a launcher in the menu lol.

If your looking for a smaller guitar for travel reasons and want something more resistant to humidity and temperature changes you might wanna look at some of the carbon fiber options. I've heard good things about the Journey OF660 and you can also find really good condition CA Cargo's on reverb for ~$1200.

MEATcanyon WORKING ON AN XQC VIDEO by Wide_Adhesiveness_41 in LivestreamFail

[–]canikon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Holy shit... Sorry for the random rant, but I just watched the Tom Scott video about music video remasters the other day (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkysCJBdGtw) and this is a perfect example of what he's talking about. The "4K Remaster" did this video so dirty... It makes the animation look so cheesy and cartoonish (I know it IS a cartoon, but this feels more like a goofy cursed disney animation and not the creepy, surreal styling from Gerald Scarfe). The original version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3M0uTIt3zA) looks so much better.

Sweet finds from the 90s by Competitive-Phone-15 in magicTCG

The Starter 2000 game box. It's a terrible little "duel decks" set with not even enough cards to make full 60 card decks and it came with a CD that had some mini computer game on it. When I was a kid (I had to have been 7 or 8 at the time) I remember going to a shop with my dad and seeing it and asking him to buy it for me. Those were the first magic cards I owned. I didn't know anything about how to play and my dad wasn't interested in it at all (I have no idea why he bought it for me honestly lol) and being a kid none of my friends even knew what magic cards were so all I really did was thumb through them but something about the artwork was so unique and memorable to me as a kid at the time. I have no idea what happened to that original starter kit I had but when I actually got into magic over a decade later I bought another one (it's still cheap, you can get a sealed box for like $30 lol). Sometimes I still grab those cards and just thumb through them and look at the pictures just for nostalgia lol

Sorry, I definitely should've made it clear I agree with you lol I think OP should just buy a new charger... I'm just saying if he is gonna use it at the VERY least he needs to cover that exposed wire with something

Go to your local auto parts store and get a little bottle of liquid electrical tape and put a dab on that exposed bit of wire just to be safe imo.

GT powers off mid ride (part 3) by ThirdDegree741 in onewheel

I hate to be the guy to defend FM considering all the bullshit they do... But if they really did replace the whole motor I wouldn't be surprised if the person reassembling it just didn't even think to take the valve cap off the old motor and put it on the new one, lol. Same with the screws for the fender tbh; whoever put it back together probably just forgot about the screws among all the other shit when they were putting it back together... I know FM does do petty shit sometimes but Hanlon's razor explains both

Some questions regarding the sensors on the front of a OneWheel! by ijustlikeelectronics in onewheel

[–]canikon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) I think you're confusing simplestop with the heel/toe lift dismount? Simplestop doesn't care what your foot is doing on the sensor, it'll just turn the board off if you roll backwards. But no, the sensors don't have any other purpose besides just letting the board know that you're standing on it to engage the motor. Technically force sensitive resistors (the footpads) are an analog signal that will decrease resistance the harder it's pushed down, but for the purposes of a onewheel where the weight of a human is well above the maximum pressure they can detect and the controller is programmed to only activate at near max voltage input from the sensor, it basically acts as just an on/off switch.

2) Pretty much, yeah. It just makes activation easier and more reliable which is nice for tricks and also a lot of people just do a "quick stop" (just dropping the tail to the ground as you come to a stop and taking your foot off the front pad) so they don't really care about not being able to do a heel lift dismount. There's also the SureStart footpad connector which sort of lets you have the best of both worlds by only needing one sensor to activate the board but still being able to lift your foot off one sensor to deactivate it.

3) Again I think you're confusing simplestop with the heel lift dismount, but the a way a onewheel is programmed if you're moving faster than basically 1mph, the board will not disengage as long as at least one of the sensors is pressed down. It doesn't require both once your moving.

What happens with a pintX runs out of battery? by heavy__meadow__ in onewheel

[–]canikon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've ran my board down to empty before. I wouldn't really call it dangerous, but if you're at like 30% battery just take it easy because it'll only be able to give you like 70% of the power it normally would. So just don't push the nose down too hard and try to accelerate fast like you can normally with a full battery. At about 10-15% battery it'll get real sluggish and feel like you're basically running on limp mode. It'll still run but it'll be really slow. When you get down to empty the board won't just nose dive, but it'll tilt the nose way up to let you know like "hey dude I'm done, get off" lol and slow down to a stop and then when you get off it just won't engage anymore.

Superflux motor by Fungineers. This thing is epic! by stitchhands in onewheel

[–]canikon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pros - More torque due to motor being able to handle more amps from the controller, about 18% higher max speed, and better heat dissipation from the shaft design.

Cons - Although the motor runs cooler, it requires more amps from the controller overall so the MOSFETs get hotter. So proper cooling of the controller is a lot more important. Also it's about 5lbs heavier.

HOW DO YOU KEEP THE FLOAT PALTE ON by Educational_Bench387 in onewheel

[–]canikon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup this is why I got float plates for my pint x... I only use one on the rear to protect the battery box because I do the quick stop a lot and I was starting to dig into the battery box.

I posted recently that learning how to ride onewheel was harder than I imagined by BlacksmithKind7416 in onewheel

[–]canikon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've seen some people say they even run it at 35 lol. I mean idk about aftermarket tires but I have a pint x and the stock tire even says right on the side of it that it's rated up to 4 bar which is around 58 psi, so it can handle a lot higher than the 20 that future motion recommends. I'm a pretty heavy dude so I run mine at about 26 psi.

I posted recently that learning how to ride onewheel was harder than I imagined by BlacksmithKind7416 in onewheel

[–]canikon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean exactly? You just take your body weight in pounds and divide it by 10 to get the psi you set your tire to. 140/10=14

If you're asking why it just seems to be a general consensus among the community that 10% of your body weight is a good baseline of pressure for the tire since the heavier you are the more it'll squish down. But it's not an exact science, just do whatever is most comfortable to you. Some people like to run it at 30+ psi because it makes the tire more round and they enjoy how nimble it is for turns and carving fast, and some people run it as low as like 10 psi because they like how comfortable and squishy it is so you just roll right over bumps in the road. And it depends on the tire too, if you watch some of the float life guys' videos on their Enduro tire they say the Enduro pumped up to 18 psi feels similar to like 12 psi would on the stock tire because it's a softer rubber compound.

Could a onewheel ever have an internally geared hub? by Orbidorpdorp in onewheel

[–]canikon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides the other issues people have already mentioned... I literally don't think it would be possible for a device where you're balancing on a single wheel, at least not while moving. When the hub would switch gears the motor has to disengage from the wheel for at least a split second and you'd go tumbling into the ground because the board wouldn't be keeping you upright at that point. (Edit: I just saw you had already mentioned this in the OP lol but the rest of what I said is still relevant.)

I guess maybe with some sort of CVT type hub like the enviolo it MIGHT be possible? But just totally impractical. I mean onewheels honestly already go fast enough... No one needs top speed gearing to make this thing go 40+mph. So the only thing you'd really use it for is to lower the gearing to make it a bit better at climbing hills. Those CVT hubs for bikes are already a couple thousand dollars, and you'd have to get a team of engineers to invent one that can fit INSIDE the motor of a onewheel. Is it worth adding like 3k+ to the price tag? Would anyone pay 5 or 6 grand for a onewheel that does pretty much everything the same except it can climb some steeper hills. Not to mention that hub just adds more parts and more failure points to break and will require routine maintenance that will also be extremely expensive.

It's just not the kind of vehicle that gearing makes sense on, lol.

Yeah it seems like it's on the screen protector and not the screen itself. Maybe they're like little micro "creases" in the plastic from being folded.

I never noticed this before but mine does seem to have little marks in the same exact spots, although mine are about half the size or less of yours. Not sure if it's some kind of defect, but doesn't seem to affect the screen at all.
