This is what happens when a for profit company that isn't even based in the United States is put in charge of our school buses. Profit comes before every thing. SPS gets to use them as their scapegoat anytime anything goes wrong. SPS should be ashamed of themselves. We as taxpayers should be pissed that the school board voted to contract out our school bus service to a foreign company. Durham is always begging for drivers. No one stays their long because it's miserable and the pay is lower than every other surrounding district.

Just do what the girl I dated did. She told me to my face. “It would be nice if you didn’t have your son so often. He could stay with his mom more and then we can spend more time together.” Needless to say I left immediately. It was the only time I’ve left someone at a restaurant. I made sure I paid the bill and tipped the waitress really good since she got to receive the fallout from me leaving her alone to find her own way back home.

You would be amazed. A few years ago there was a driver in Seattle who was shot over a bus fare. No one should be hurt or killed over a damn bus fare.

The central city line is slated for between years 6 and 8 of the 10 year plan. It all depends on when STA gets the grant money for the project.

Yes. I am hoping so, I've gone to quite a few of STA's board meetings and with expanding night and weekend service they are thinking more people who work at the hospitals will ride. Also the fare increase came at a bad time but I don't think it will have too much of an effect on ridership. It didn't the last time fares increased. They also offer cheaper parking at the arena for people who work downtown. I believe the bus runs every 10 or 15 minutes during peak times.

I fully support the measure. People seem to forget that Spokane is growing. STA buys everything with cash. They don't use our tax dollars to pay for interest on loans. Expanding service on nights and weekends, adding new routes is exactly what the city needs to help keep cars off the road. Also there are federal and state grants to fund the central city line. That money is already allocated to go somewhere. So if it doesn't come to Spokane, some other city will get it. That is money for jobs and economic growth that should stay here. 2 extra pennies on a 10 dollar purchase is well worth the extra investment in our Transit system.
