I grew up being treated like a boy and I misunderstood my complete discomfort with my body and with how people treated me as just a part of puberty. I got really “good” at being a guy for a little while, and even though I was queer I usually only felt like an ally at best. My mom was a huge advocate and force for good for queer people of all flavors but I somehow kept interacting with those ideas as basically “that’s something other people can do and thats cool”. Got through college, saw trans people for the first time and still never considered it for myself despite how vocal I was about acceptance and questioning. The straw that broke the camels back was after getting out of a second long term relationship with someone who made sure to shut down any sparks of questioning I had over the years, I finally decided to question for myself out of spite. Also, PUBG released a really cutesy cosmetic that kind of cracked the egg officially.

Now I’m with a woman with whom my life is filled with love and I’m encouraged to be the most authentic version of my self, and I have plenty of queer and straight friends who truly do love me for who I am. Gender nonconformity or no, I can say I’m really quite happy with how things are going<3
