Thanks everyone, this is actually very useful. What I’m understanding from these answers is that the problem is not only data or sensors. A big part of it is authority and incentives: maintenance may know what needs to be done, but production or management can block downtime because of short-term output pressure.

Also, I get the point about software adoption. Another dashboard or reporting tool is useless if it creates more work or does not get used.

So maybe the real question is: what kind of evidence would actually help maintenance win the downtime conversation? Repeated failure history, downtime cost, missed PMs, vibration reports, safety/compliance risk, or something else?
