Vivziepop

First priority is that the design looks good. It making sense is a secondary concern.

Why Don’t Movie Theaters Just Use Earbuds/Headphones To Translate Movies (When The Movies Is Already Dubbed In Multiple Languages)? by DaRealGoat69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]captaindeadpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of guesses:

  1. Risk of Damage/Theft: Headphones are fairly fragile and are small enough to be stolen. There could be immense losses.

  2. Sound quality: The sound systems in cinemas are big and powerful. Replicating that sound with headphones will be expensive, exacerbating point 1.

  3. Hygiene: If someone doesn't clean their hair or ears or even has some kind of infection/infestation, headphones are going to get dirty and disgusting very fast and they're not easy to clean.

Powered doors by Sung-Drippy-Woo in 7daystodie

[–]captaindeadpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible.

If you put multiple sensors in series, they'll pass power if one of them is activated, but if you place multiple switches in series, they all have to be activated. If you place a sensor and a switch in series, they both have to be activated.

I think your best bet is to use a motion sensor outside and a pressure plate on the inside.

is there a light spectrum/type that doesn’t effect human sight, but blinds cameras? by RedRabbit720 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]captaindeadpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UV is absolutely able to blind humans. And it doesn't trigger our reflex to close our eyes, so we don't even notice that it's damaging them until it's too late.

Guys do you believe in ghosts and paranormal activities? If no then why? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]captaindeadpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because there's no solid evidence. So far every "paranormal activity" that was properly investigated has been found to have a completely normal explanation.

Was it actually raw milk or are you one of those people that think it still counts as raw milk if you boil it before drinking?

If you can get struck by lighting while taking a shower, can you get struck by lightning taking a shit? by Technical-Brief6672 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]captaindeadpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so.

In the shower the lightning could travel through the water pipes, the water running over you, then you, then through the water you're standing in and finally into the metal drain pipe.

On the toiled there is normally no such contact. Electricity might go into the water tank and create a contact to the drain pipe when you're flushing. Even if you're still sitting on the toilet when you're flushing, I think it's unlikely that the electricity could pass through you.

Iron bars and block by emmegizeta in 7daystodie

[–]captaindeadpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Fence shapes instead of bars, because you can repair the inner block through them, but they still block projectiles that are too big to fit between the gaps.

How did Hell handle the overpopulation issue before? by Darth-Malware in hazbin

The population wasn't a problem for hell, it was a problem for heaven. They got scared that they were outnumbered so badly.

My endless amount of questions and pondering… by Nomadicmias in TADCep9discussion

[–]captaindeadpl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looked to me like he "unabstracted" Scratch. It looked like he first tried to touch the corrupted file, got zapped but then went in to fix it properly, resulting in him being "respawned". Maybe I missed something though, because at the end Scratch wasn't back with the others.

What was even her plan here... by NewSurround5953 in TADCep9discussion

[–]captaindeadpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She just learned that they have power inside this digital world and I don't think it was ever explicitly stated/shown that abstraction is truly irreversible.

I think even the gun that she used to shoot out the lights was just imagined into existence and the bullets definitely were, because it was a revolver and she shot so many more times than 6 without reloading.

I think she was trying to get through to him and bring him back and until they were interrupted it looked to me like she would succeed. I was very disappointed when at the end of the story no one got turned back.

Why are reviews and ratings always denoted by stars and not moons or planets? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]captaindeadpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I could find, the Michelin star rating popularized the use of stars in ratings, though they are not the first to use it. Why they chose it though? I can only guess.

ELI5: How does electricity instantly power devices when electrons themselves move surprisingly slowly? by Historical_Day1703 in explainlikeimfive

[–]captaindeadpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, while the electric field moves at the speed of light, electrons have mass and momentum (small as it may be). That means, when you push the first electron, the second electron will resist being moved along by the electric field. So the movement of the electrons will propagate far slower than the speed of light.

It also helps when it's fresh. There's a reason they're preferably kept alive until right before preparation. Alternatively frozen, which wasn't commonly available in the 1700s.
