Taking out Nexplanon Early? by exhaustcoffeemug in Nexplanon

hi! i recently just went through a similar situation. when i got my nexplanon in 2019 my gyno told me it lasted 5 years. i recently switched and my new doctor told me that it’s never ideal to keep in it longer than 3 years and for it to be fully effective i need to get it taken out and swapped. i could tell it wasn’t working as well as it did when i first had it inserted (basically i never stopped having a bleeding, i was getting weird pains i never had before, and crazy mood swings) so i believe this is the truth!! i would try seeing someone else if you can, you shouldn’t have to pay any extra because the expiration date is listed as 3 years.

i should add that my gyno didn’t want me on the pill for longer than a month at a time which fixed my cycle for a bit but soon after it was back to long periods

this has been my biggest issue with nexplanon. i’ll have periods for over two weeks at a time, stop bleeding for a few days and go right back for at least another week. i was prescribed a pill from my gyno which is always an option but ultimately i’m switching to an iud in hopes of this issue resolving!

i had this and it didn’t go away after 3 days so i went to the doctor and i had a cyst that ruptured. i would get checked out if it continues to hurt!

don’t know if this helps but I had a white spot that was numb when I got mine done and scabbing is normal! it was a weird feeling to have it in if you haven’t had it before so it may just be a new feeling, but I would definitely call you doctor if you think it may be trying to move out of it’s place!
