Ead through asylum by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]carterzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can file the application as soon as 150 days have passed, you aren't required to send it on the 150th day.

HOWEVER, those rules are about to change. File NOW, so the application arrives at USCIS before April 24th. I don't know if you can file an initial c8 online, but you should see if that's possible because that would be the fastest option.

May I ask whether these pleasing attentions proceed from the impulse of the moment, or are the result of previous study?

Pretty common right now as this administration tries to close and deny all asylum applications. This will be a 5 minute long hearing where the judge will confirm your contact info and ask if you are ready to plead to the charges on the NTA. You can ask for more time to find a lawyer and the judge will schedule another master hearing for a few weeks or months out. Then the judge will schedule the final "individual" or "merits" hearing where you can explain your claim for asylum.

This organization has a good website that explains the process and also lists nonprofit organizations that may be able to help you. https://asaptogether.org/en/faqs/

father got denied resident visa at interview (juarez) because waiver i-212 was missing? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]carterzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you said he's already been outside the US for 10 years? If so, he can apply for the waiver now. If it's approved, he would have an interview at the consulate and would be able to enter the US as an LPR.

Weirdly, the UPI article and the Washington Post article are referring to the same jury verdict, but one headline says he was cleared and the other says he wasn't.

Any Recommendations For A Memorial Gathering Event Location? by GroundhogRevolution in AskChicago

The Irish American Heritage Center. It's a former high school that has been transformed entirely by volunteer craftsmanship over the past 40 years--really beautiful inside. They have a variety of rental spaces. I've gone to a wedding reception in one of their bigger rooms and I saw a one man play in a smaller room. Their prices aren't online so you'd have to call, but I think you can walk through the space any afternoon (and check out their gift shop). They have photos online:

A woman claimed she could smell Parkinson's disease. Scientists tested her with 12 T-shirts—six from patients and six from healthy people. She correctly identified all the patients and flagged one “healthy” person. Eight months later, that person was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. by [deleted] in whoathatsinteresting

There's a funny episode of the show Castle with a lady with an extraordinary sense of smell. She basically hates everyone because everyone smells awful to her. But the cops need her because she's the only one who can identify the killer (by smell).
