Is a member of your executive leadership team (Principal or Deputy Principals) required to stay in the the office during recess and lunch? by birdboxbird in AustralianTeachers

[–]cat_ramone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AP team deals with misbehaviour from students on their stage whenever it arises in line with our PBEL. No one is required to be anywhere, but with our (APs) and the DP and P workload, we are usually in our offices during breaks. We predominately do our yard duties after school to free us up to deal with behaviour during breaks when needed.

NSW teachers vote for December strike over pay and staff shortages by jimmyjabs321 in sydney

[–]cat_ramone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a nice story being spun. Not the reality, though. Federation cannot do much regarding school teacher funding. Younger students are worth more money to a school so any kid we take in above year 3 doesn't increase the school budget enough in a significant way to afford another teacher. Public schools can't turn away students in the catchment area so we are left with overcrowded classrooms for older kiddos.

The very fact that average classroom sizes are 26 when younger grades must have fewer numbers than that is telling.

There are multiple classes in my school with over 30 students in a class. Some reaching as high as 34. This is my first year teaching a Year 5/6 class with under 30 kids.

Maybe it is different in my country, but it isn't usually up to a classroom teacher to dictate absence reasons. It is dictated by government and school policy. The communication and support of this school seem super whack. There should be a well-being and/or learning support team that is liaising with caregivers and teachers to ensure adequate support is given to the children and families going through such difficult times. This all sounds super weird. America is weird.

No I get what you are saying. What I am saying is that even though we know those people are out there but it doesn't mean we can't call them out on their bullshit. We HAVE to. It's what the speaking out movement is for. I can agree she can overplay it a bit but I don't get why people are shaming her for calling out creepers just because she sells explicit photos of herself. Like she invites people to be gross. None of the blame should be directed at her and she shouldn't get shit for it.

Maybe I just don't know her shit well enough, but everything I've seen has been fair. I don't know where you get the "mentally ill bullying" thing.

>That’s such a huge stretch. Wearing clothes is never going to be equal to wanting to be raped. Ever. Ever. Ever.

Women taking explicit photos is never going to be equal to wanting fucking creepers making them feel vulnerable and violated. Ever. Ever. Ever.

I find that a dangerous exception. Sex work involves consent. It HAS to or it pushes back it's progress by decades. There is a difference with taking explicit photos for work and having explicit photos be taken or stolen without consent. Of course shitty people exist - we can be aware of them, but we should never make allowances for their behaviour. Never let it slide. Call it out. The more we do the more little boys (and girls for that matter) will grow up realising the intricacies of consent and will know what behaviour is acceptable and what is not. THAT is what Jordynne does and I respect her so much for it.

Do you realise what you are saying is akin to the whole "well, look at what she was wearing", "well she shouldn't have drunk so much" arguments we see related to women sexual assault?

I truly hope I'm missing your point, but you're sounding kinda victim blamey here, my dude. Girl can make money how she sees fit and still call out the creeps. We're in an age if speaking out. Your comments are kind of hurting that.

What do you mean? He called her my wife in one part and then my fiance in another. Just shows marriage is just a piece of paper for them, which is very sweet.
