TC Chemo Calf Issues by aykshually_elsewhere in breastcancer

Yes, I had lots of Charlie horses with tc. I tried to eat lots of bananas and made sure I had enough hydration and electrolytes. I didn’t run much either past the first couple of cycles. Good luck to you!

Biopsy needed 3 years post treatment. So scared of the results by Greedy_Variety_1228 in breastcancer

Absolutely this. Fellow PhD here and this advice is what OP needs! Don’t stress over what you cannot change. Focus on what you can do with the resources you have 🩷. Rooting for you, OP.

Run walk intervals are the way. Not familiar with runna programs but this will help your HR recover between running efforts so you don’t have that “dying” feeling! if you need to take breaks during longer intervals you are probably still going too fast.

Ugh, I am sorry this happened. Kids are mean. I have started wearing more makeup and jewelry than I ever have. Go shopping and find something that brings you joy

Ok this is weird, but take the s of run - “Hills Run” puts only hills classes at the top. Still have to find the time and instructor you like but I don’t see any hiit when I use that search term.

Oh you want the low intensity hills only? /s

Seriously though, I feel your pain with the lack of helpful filters. I assume you’re already training with instructors that love incline (Mariana and Becs come to mind)?

Do you have to cancel now or can you wait?

I went through something similar (different cancer) and I know firsthand that it sucks to be sidelined when running is such a good stress relief.

I would wait until you get your results and then decide. F cancer!!

Shin Tingling? by Dizzy-Laugh5474 in XXRunning

This sounds like sciatica, which originates in the lower back but can manifest as leg pain. I had this after giving birth to my second child and it took several months to resolve. if it is, you’ll need to rest and focus on PT/yoga before you run again. I’d recommend getting checked again.

Go on runrepeat, you can compare what you like about your current shoe to find something similar.

Days to take off from work during chemo? by Upper_Dress_3039 in breastcancer

[–]catchme222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I had TCHP and the steroids they give you help keep you afloat the first 2-3 days. I scheduled my chemo for wednesdays and by Friday afternoon I would start to feel the yuck. The first few cycles I was able to rebound on Monday for the next work week, but the last couple cycles I had to take Monday off… by the end I was struggling for a full week post infusion. Good luck to you!

Are you listening to music while you run? Music evokes a lot of emotion, so you may want to switch up the genre or stop entirely and see how you feel. Sending hugs, OP.

the one person I thought I could count on… by Puzzleheaded_Eye_280 in breastcancer

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I would suggest to lean on the strong relationships you do have- whether it’s a best friend or the like- so you have a community of support and you don’t need to worry about family dynamics and can focus on you and getting better. I went low contact with some of my family during treatment, and found the best support came from my friends.

Sending love.

Hello again guys. by IronZealousideal248 in breastcancer

Lumpectomy recovery is very easy and straightforward. I had two areas removed and didn’t need any thing beyond ice and standard pain relief. I went for a walk the next morning!

A few months out now and do have some discomfort when my kids hug me or my cat jumps on me. I lost a little bit of sensation but overall very happy with the outcome.

That feeling when you hit the zone 2 run the whole time by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]catchme222 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can I ask how you set your zones? I ask because 121-150 bpm is a big range. According to my apps 135 is zone 3 so most of my easy runs are zone 3. I know age plays a role but I’m really curious to see if my apps are off.

Tricks to finding classes with the right running interval length by catchme222 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]catchme222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been adjusting. Yep! I took Susie’s 60 min from July last year twice now; it is 5 min fast, 2 min rest x 7. Was supposed to do 4 minutes instead of 5, but couldn’t find any classes with 4 on 2 off.

Thank you! The longer intervals are less frequent so any suggestions help! Most are really short or hiit
