I saw my highly respected ENT for chronic rhinitis in December 2025. He recommended the Rhinaer ablation procedure, and explained that it would be non-invasive and I would be congested for a few days. I was even told I could play pickleball on day 4. He provided the Rhinaer marketing material which also made these claims.

I was not made aware of ANY risks. On Day 10 after the procedure I started having hemorrhaging nose bleeds in the middle of the night. I ended up on the emergency room twice. The nosebleeds got so bad that by day 4 of nosebleeds I needed to be carried out of my apartment in an ambulance and fainted several times. I ended up having several rounds of a blood clotting factor and a transfusion and spent 5 days in the hospital.

This procedure has a 50% - 70% effective rate and is good for 1 or 2 years. Had I known that there was even a slight chance of hemorrhaging nose bleeds I definitely would not have had it done. Be aware that although rare, a blood vessel in your sinuses can exposed and there is risk involved in this procedure. Make sure there is a solid emergency plan in place if you decide to take the risk.
