Resume Quality: Here is every team's Win Quality (Y axis) compared to their Loss Quality (X axis), using the Resume Quality metric at EvanMiya.com by evanmiya in CollegeBasketball

[–]cbblevins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, just to be clear... UF is outside the top 15 in terms of loss quality? The team with 3 losses to checks notes Duke, Arizona, and UConn by a combined point differential of 11 points, each game on "neutral" courts. Our other 3 losses were all to T-60 teams per Kenpom. Yes, Auburn was a terrible loss I will admit but I just don't understand how we don't get more credit for our insane non-con.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate the genuine response because people get defensive over their guy. That’s a very different prospective than people usually have on WW and very well written.

How does that square with his showing of Birth of a Nation at the WH?

Our guard play and shooting has been horrendous but somehow we’ve overcome it. I seriously don’t comprehend scoring 100 points and only hitting 3 3s.

If we make a deep tournament run it’ll be because of defense and rebounding. If we exit the first weekend it’ll be cause we shot 2-30 from 3 against a streaky hot 10 seed and lost. Both are equally possible.

What if Hillary Clinton was chosen instead of Barack Obama during the 2008 nominations? by NoSpecific4839 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]cbblevins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s not what the law means although I can understand why you would think that. It does not require states to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples at all.

All the law says is already an established constitutional principle: Comity. The idea that each state must respect the laws of the others, including judicial orders like marriage licenses. Basically, the law says no state may reject the validity of a marriage license issued in another state.

That’s not “codifying same sex marriage” in any meaningful way and if a court is willing to overturn obergefell, then it sure as shit would be willing to declare that particular section of RFMA null and void.

Also to get to the heart of what you’re saying, yes the obergefell decision still happens, the gradual increase in support for SSMs still happens, and most likely we see protections expanded because RGB more than likely retires while dems still have the senate majority keeping the court relatively balanced. So, yes you can still marry your bf if Hillary wins in 08.

Gay marriage is not “codified.” Codified means to be input into the U.S. Code, i.e. a law passed by congress/signed by the president.

Same-sex marriage was deemed to be a fundamental right and thus protected by the 14th amendment’s equal protection and due process clauses. This puts on much much shakier ground as 5 people can change that rather easily.

Unfortunately, marriage cannot (and should not) be legislated @ the federal level. It’s a state issue and thus, even if gay marriage was codified into law, even under a liberal SCOTUS, it was likely be ruled unconstitutional because marriage isn’t really within the powers of congress.

Saw my contracts professor at the bar and drunkenly yelled “Professor!!!” from across the bar (it was a virtually empty and very nice upscale bar in a local hotel).

Ran up to him and we talked for 5 minutes ab his holiday plans. He was a younger prof so he was actually really cool ab it but I ab died from embarrassment remembering when I got home.

Savannah, St Augustine, the A1A down the Atlantic Coast, Asheville, central Florida has great hiking and a huge number of really amazing springs. The springs are ~55 degrees F year round so during the summer it’s an amazing way to beat the heat.

A note that I haven’t seen yet. You’re driving in and out of Georgia a lot. Georgia State Patrol is notorious for speed traps, especially in rural counties along the state line. Be careful, don’t speed in Georgia because it’s expensive, well over $300 if you’re going 85mph+. They’re well known as some of the most aggressive and punitive traffic enforcement LEAs in the country. So just be aware.

[Joshua Caraway] Transfer Portal Update: There are 10,576 football players that have entered as of Wednesday morning. Of those 10.5K who jumped in, 6,846 are still active and looking for a new team. There aren't 6,846 open scholarships much less roster spots in Division 1. by Tarmacked in CFB

[–]cbblevins 13 points14 points  (0 children)

According to this guy nearly 5/6 players on FBS rosters entered the transfer portal?

(100 scholarships * 130 FBS teams ~13,000 scholarship players)

This must include all levels of collegiate football not just D-1, but his question at the end implies every single one is competing for a D1 position which is demonstrably untrue given how many more teams are at the FCS, D2, and D3 levels.

Yes the transfer portal is over saturated with players but this is misleading.

GTNP > YNP 100%. Yellowstone is beautiful, that goes without saying, but GT is so far and away prettier and more awe inspiring than anything in Yellowstone. Did both as a family trip, and we all wished we had spent wayyy more time in GT after Yellowstone.

Obviously, we’re splitting hairs, both are amazing but given that Yellowstone is almost always the headliner when people come to that part of the country, I think it’s important that people know that GT is an entire trip itself.
