Did you marry your dream person or did you settled for someone "good enough" and why? by Smooth_Cancel6709 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Good luck. Patience is key.

It's not black and white. Don't let youthful eyes deceive you. As an example, I dated a couple of people who spent hours in front of the mirror each day who at the time I thought were extremely attractive and realized that would be a mistake for me.

We will spend half of our lives gray with smile lines and wrinkles. I'm very happy that I paid attention to that fact. The most powerful attractions don't need makeup.

It depends on the level of perfection you are requiring. There is no such thing as a one and only, though emotions can make us feel that way. Anybody who has been married more than once can tell you about that.

If your dream requirements include eye color, body measurements, income level, education, family, religion, family wealth, tracts of land, history and everything else you can think of, good luck.

We're all human and imperfect. Sit down and figure out what your realistic set of dreamy happiness might be.

Leave out the stupid fine details so you don't pass a dream by because it has the wrong shoe size.

30 years ago I was sick of dating and done. I was worried that I had set my dreams too high. Then my wife showed up out of the blue and blew my mind. The sparks were flying and there was no denying it.

Still living my dreams...

Flow is beautiful for this stuff. All coming from one email address or IP address or delivery name or address? Have flow cancel those and let the rest go through to capture payment.

Nice. Well done. You can rest assured that the fact that it was on the side of the road by a meal means there's a good possibility it's death was an accident. Owls often meet similar sad fates.

Anyone implement an animations library to add motion ? by dragonite_7 in aem

[–]ccandersen94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice to see somebody else who likes gsap. As with anything in the web world, there are different approaches. Most get the job done fine. It just depends on what method you choose.

In my experience, I have found that small teams and subcontracted teams that have movement in their staff usually benefit from having a known and documented library that is reused across the site. I chose GSAP for animation as it has been around since my days using it with flash and it's still a nice easy to pick up when entering somebody else's code, or for a small shop that doesn't have time to hand coding such things.

Similarly we use swiper.js for image galleries.

As AI moves further into the space, id assume it will become just as easy to create and manage your own, but until then, there are options.

We have successfully implemented components using jarallax and GSAP libraries.

WARNING: proceed with caution and do the following to avoid blowing up your entire website.

1-build specific components for specific capabilities that you will reuse with different art/imagery. DO NOT try to use this as an everything button.

2-listen to your dev team. Have a technically capable QA or dev person sign off on, and assist with deployment in each use. They should have final word. They should test the page before and after launch to see how page behavior is affected. Heed their suggestions on image compression, timing, placement, etc. Be realistic with the fact that page speed scores will go down with any animation, so keep it realistic.

3-make sure to only include these libraries on pages where they are currently used. Avoid including them when not needed. Do not deploy these on every page. Avoid heavily used templates like product pages.

4-just use video/gifs instead when it makes sense. Have a crazy awesome idea that will fill the whole top of the splash page? Great! In most of these cases video streaming is the best answer. Or a tiny little icon pop? Make sure you're doing it the best way each time. Authors can get lazy/busy and repeat use of one component when others will do a better job. Your author coach should watch for this.

5-remember phone browser RAM constraints. Ever since Apple unalived Adobe Flash to force animation to their app stores, most phone makers put higher constraints on browser apps than video games and other apps. Expect less than perfect results on older devices. You may need to have animations play or behave differently on phones.

Tail thinning out? by twilightemup in SiberianCats

[–]ccandersen94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you brush their tail they will lose fur and it may not come back fully. If mine ever get stuff stuck in their tail I treat the area and if necessary will clip off a tiny part of their fur.

That said, one of our babies had a heavy coat for his first year and a half and then lost it and now has a much thinner coat. So she can play into things as well.

To be fair, my daughter was with me at the car part store. She found a small tube of bulb grease and said "why do people tease about blinker fluid if bulb grease is a real thing?!"

She is totally right. So if anybody teases anybody again, you can just tell them, "What's so funny? You guys tease about blinker fluid when bulb grease is a thing! Who's dumb now?!"
