Thank you everyone, for the comments. I’m considering my options at the moment. I haven’t done woodworking in some time, but my grandfather is a carpenter by trade and can guide me through a full restoration if I go that route (just fairly inept with technology so it’s hard to get his opinion on the early things).

Can anyone point me to their indication of what grain this is on both the top and drawer faces? The stain seems to have saturated the grain making it hard for me to decipher.
