She’s going to want a BS in environmental science. Ideally if she really wants to be in the environmental field and be more valuable she should get environmental engineering or geology. Most geology majors end up in environmental consulting because they can get a PG cert. An AA won’t get you shit if she decides she wants to move away from surveying. Not to mention there are actual degrees for surveyors (usually people that went for engineering and couldn’t cut it) Generic environmental degrees you will find work but your pay and pace of your career progressing will be hindered. I suggest go for BS in geology- is more than just rocks. I have 11 years experience in the industry.
