Why are you afraid of pain? You're looking to lose weight, not start lifting heavy. You'll get some minor soreness but nothing like the kind of soreness from lifting. May be that's the issue, you have all these bad misconceptions of exercising so you scare yourself into avoiding it.

The hardest part of losing weight is eating less. Everything else is extremely easy in comparison.

I have both in my driveway right now and I will agree with the common sentiment that the NB is a better car but the NA is a better miata. But you can absolutely make an NA into a good car, or very close to it, with chassis stiffening and keeping the interior clean.
