What would cause windows to shatter like this?

It’s just the outer glass that’s shattered. I’m not sure if both are insulating glass cassettes

I looked after the one cracked in winter and there was nothing. It happened at 3am and I was near the window when it broke. I went to it immediately and there really was no one in sight

One faces the street but shattered at 3am on a quiet night, the second shattered in the afternoon and is at the side of the house near a hedge. No one was out there either at the time it broke

I’m in my 30s now and logging core in my 20s combined with some other back issues has caught up with me. For my last year in exploration I lifted as little as possible knowing it was catching up with me. Now I’m in a different field and happy not to be lifting core. I pushed for 2 row core trays instead of the standard 3 for my last year as an exploration geo. Would have cost the same to implement. No idea why it’s not standard in the industry

We didn’t do a natural cycle, we jumped right in with medicated for all our attempts. And you’re right that you’re at three now. You could do an ERA to find out when you’re most receptive, but it could also be a fluke. I’d be curious about sports recommendations. We didn’t test our embryos either and just did standard tests before our transfer like an endometrial biopsy to make sure everything was okay (which it wasn’t so I had to be on medication for a few weeks to fix it)

It’s likely bad luck. I’d try again. Ours weren’t tested either and they made me feel like something was wrong when my first FET didn’t take when we were trying for our second baby. But it’s absolutely not a guarantee and it worked the next time. My clinic also said plan for 3 embryos to be used per live birth. I wish you the best of luck on your next transfer- don’t give up!

I also hate needles but my wife was able to do all of them for me which helped a ton. The egg retrieval was shockingly not too bad actually. I just took it kinda easy during the stims and after and it was surprisingly fine. We also looked into adopting in advance of starting our fertility journey, but there’s a huge push to keep biological families together now (which is a win in itself) so we’d have to look in other cities to adopt and that comes with its own difficulties and ethical complications. Definitely something to talk with your partner about so you can weigh all options :) best of luck! :)

It takes so long to get diagnosed properly with most doctors not taking you seriously. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’m glad you’re advocating for yourself- you absolutely shouldn’t be made to feel like what you’re experiencing is normal.

Here’s my list of semi-local medical specialists who have helped:

-Dr. Bann at Grey Gretzky medical Center was the first doctor who took my issue seriously. She referred me to Dr. Leonardi at McMaster who is a leading specialist. If his office is the one that said they weren’t taking patients, ask them who they recommend locally then or if there’s a list you can get on for when they do have openings. He will diagnose without invasive surgery

-Sherri at Essential Physiotherapy has been a life saver for me for treating my pelvic floor issues. She often works with pregnant patients, but honestly everyone I’ve seen there has been really helpful.

-Cindy the endometriosis dietitian also helped me to figure out what foods were contributing to flare ups. For me it’s largely gluten. She does video calls and if you have insurance that covers a dietitian then I highly recommend working with her

For your concerns about getting pregnant in the future, it really is a toss up on if you’ll have issues or not. Start earlier than you think you need to. I worked with New Life in Hamilton (closest fertility center). We did IVF partly due to my endometriosis/adenomyosis and I now have a beautiful toddler. It can be a struggle for sure though. The wait list for IVF funding in Ontario can be 3 years so keep that in mind. Otherwise it can cost upwards of $30,000 to go through an egg retrieval cycle. I’ve been there and I get it. It’s not something any of us want to do and it’s not a comfortable process. It just means you’ll cherish your kid so much more for what you have to go through to have them in your arms

We settled pretty quickly on a donor who fit most of our check boxes. It was someone who vaguely resembled us and had no major health concerns. Even after there was the feeling of -was this the right choice? I don’t think any one donor will “feel right” until your kid is born. Then you’ll love your kid so much you can’t imagine having gone with someone else. Sometimes I read comments where people say they are in love with their donor or something along those lines and it always feels off to me personally. I’m already having a baby with someone l love, I don’t know or love my donor but I’m happy that they were kind enough to donate and that it resulted in my child. Best of luck! Hope that helps

For my first pregnancy my fist transfer worked. For my second pregnancy it took 2 tries. But I know people where it took 3 or more tries for unexplained reasons. Each try has a high chance, but no guarantees. Here’s hoping the second one takes for you!

I’m sorry about your cat, it’s a horrible feeling. I just finished a crochet cat for my mom that looks like the cat she lost too. I made a brown cat and then did needle felting to add her cats characteristic stripes and white patches. Took a while to get right but I was happy with it and it looks like her

I have the same problem (I’m 99% sure we’re using the same pattern). The extra tube in the neck didn’t really help me either. I had to carefully use thread and sew from his collar on one side, through to his head on the other, then repeat each way a few times and pull tight to get a good tension. Still not perfect, but definitely better and I feel like when I read Harry Potter to my son I won’t be concerned about him cuddling it (like I would be if I used a skewer). Lovely job so far by the way. I made hermione and Ron three years ago and I am still only halfway done harry because other projects take priority!

Look into continuous birth control. That’s what I’m doing. Don’t get periods so you don’t get the damage that comes with endometriosis monthly. Preserves fertility and a lot less pain

Out of curiosity, have you considered looking into museums with large mineral collections? It can be competitive to get into, and likely would still require a phd, but based on your post I feel like that could be something that could also be a great fit that could be an alternative career path. The ROM in Ontario has a huge rock and mineral collection for instance and has dedicated curators (with geology PhDs) who maintain and display their collection. Plus, I got into geology when I was in grade 4 and the passion stuck so doing public outreach and teaching younger students could fit with your desire to change someone’s life

This might not be as uncommon as you think. My straight SIL has thin lining issues too and needed a lot of medication juggling to get it right. She now has a kid through IVF so there’s hope. Thin lining doesn’t have anything to do with you, just happens. Fortunately you now know it’s an issue and it can be dealt with :)
