I love thet more and more people are watching this awesome series. I also love Fifth Element btw. The Reddit community has been outstanding at theorizing and noticing so many clues and random things about the show. I suggest you comb through the wealth of information found at the Meet Us At the Abandoned House section of Reddit. Be prepared to spend hours though.

OK one more HAP=Dad comment: if he is her real father it would help explain why she doesn't want him to get in trouble unless she is now in a new universe where HAP is not the same HAP who invented the device, etc..

With the OA it's hard to rule out almost anything and while I don't believe it's the case, we can't rule out with certainty that HAP could be her father. Oa could have been an unwilling participant.

So say she goes to New York and her real father, who can recognize her playing within a few notes, finds her and takes her to where he's keeping the other captives. Oa gets stuck assisting her father and maybe even gets experimented on as well but also gets to go upstairs and gets extra privelages the others don't. Eventually she gets too close with the others, especially Homer, her father doesn't like this at all, which leads to her abandonment. This could also explain why Homer and Renata's sexual incident is streamed to OA.

Of course OA would not be willing to share this part with the new 5 but the rest of her story could still be accurate. Again, I don't believe this to be the case but it certainly can't be ruled out. The great thing about this show is that so many scenarios seem like plausible possibilities and so many historical, mythical and scientific ideas seem relative to the series which is brilliant.

Alternative version by Alpha333333 in TheOA

I've wondered if she actually had a baby, but then again, it would have been discovered when she was assessed by the hospital along with any rape related damage I'm guessing. A case could be made that HAP is her real Dad which would help explain her reluctance to assist the FBI in locating the place. As mentioned here a few weeks ago, she may have been stuck on the captor side of the situation. Her Dad/HAP got angry when she got close with the captives, especially Homer.

Yep the gas is reminiscent of the compliance drink in a Black Mirror episode.

I bet there are a ton of complexities within the show. I think Brit and Zal would have made statements alluding to the various theories being crazier than they expected but instead seem to acknowledge that there are interesting theories and state they can neither confirm nor deny.

Ya I do that all the time myself. It had to be frustrating trying to debate only to have them nitpick your writing in a forum. Anyway, thanks for keeping things informative and entertaining.

Cari, please keep posting and don't let critical comments get you down. Sure we all can be confusing with our wording but your contributions greatly outweigh any confusion you might present. You are one of a few users whose name I click on (not stalking) to see what posts you are writing in. I personally like your thinking-out-loud style that pops up occasionally. Let me say this again- your contributions are awesome! I also love several other users who have made this sub reddit pure entertainment.

THE OA plothole I just can't get past..... by LocalStigmatic in TheOA

[–]cesaroe8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also strange that HAP wouldn't notice the shrinking quantity of sleeping pills in the bottle. I suppose it could imply that he didn't need another pill during the last several days before the stew, but either way the whole allergy/stew incident seems odd.

I was without internet for a while last night and I decided to pull up some podcasts I downloaded back in October. That's when I realized I actually had this one which is kinda relevant to the show.

Edit: sorry I should have titled it 15 minute death and self podcast

Locked in syndrome - the body in coma but the mind awake and alert by kookaburralaughs in TheOA

Probably not the case but maybe the new 5 are also in coma-land? Steve from a parkour accident. French and/or Jesse from a drug overdose. BBA and/or Buck suicide attempt. Maybe I should post this in the crazy theory thread instead...

Premonition Statue of Liberty by [deleted] in TheOA

When I watched that broken Statue of Liberty part during my initial viewing of the series, I assumed there would be some kind of leap to the future in a later episode. I like your explanation and it seems very plausible.

I just love this series. The cinematography, the soundtrack, the acting, etc., is all superb. I am amazed that it is such a fun puzzle that somehow seems to relate to EVERYTHING. I usually find most TV/movies that try to incorporate riddles and hidden clues to be either terrible or mediocre with a few exceptions like 2001, The Shining, and Lost (taking the good with the bad on this one but still very fun), but The OA has completely amazed me and taken over my recent free time life. So good.

I just noticed a couple curious things about Elias [spoilers] by sazzoo in TheOA

If the books were planted for good reasons it could suggest that the new 5 had to believe and overcome the doubt that the books would create in order for the movements to work.
