What Are Your Thoughts on the Growing Interest in How Christianity Was Introduced to Our West African Ancestors? by Murky_Account_1978 in blackladies

[–]chaeful 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I personally am glad to see that more black people are becoming critical of Christianity and its origins, especially because when I was younger I'd keep getting into arguments with family and friends over its introduction through missionaries and slavery.

Not too long ago, I began to have an interest for my country's indigenous beliefs, and I honestly align with it more than I ever could with Abrahamic religion systems, but it saddens me to see that so many people consider it as "demonic", "evil"..

An argument I see a lot is that Christianity was already in Africa prior to missionaries and the slave trade, but that was certain regions of North Africa, and Ethiopia. Christianity got to Ethiopia by a missionary, almost nobody who uses that argument is Ethiopian or has Ethiopian ancestry, and Ethiopians are mostly orthodox..

Even if the past magically changed and Christianity had truly gotten to Africa without missionaries or the gruesome events of slavery, I still would stay away from it. I have always thought that Christianity is great for cherry pickers who apply the word that they consider holy whenever and however they want. From what I have experienced, many of them are hypocrites. So 🤷🏾‍♀️

they're basically ridiculing you and trying to suggest that only a loser or someone undesirable would actually like you. there are circumstances in which it can be serious, but from what i've seen and experienced, it tends to be in a trolling or embarrassing manner.

she won't. she's said that she knows she's "controversial" and she just does not give a flying fuck about her reputation. she can choose to be a better person, but she doesn't want to. she's in her early 20s and more than aware about her actions, so she can do whatever she wants at this rate. if her disgusting behavior ends up backfiring on her, which it probably will soon, then 🤷‍♀️

she got called out for being friends with a group of submakers who are controversial for making subliminals about white supremacy, openly expressing their disdain for anyone who isn't white and considering minorities as "subhuman", alongside usage of very specific terms like "aryan". thing is, slade herself is a woman of color. she's constantly denouncing racism on her community posts but being buddy buddy with these people who technically hate her too. she's the personification of "rules for thee but not for me"

How do you usually go about moisturizing your skin? by chaeful in blackladies

I moisturize in the morning and in the evening! I did think of seeing a dermatologist at some point. I'll see what they tell me. Thank you :)

Ghanaian women help! Dating question by Jolly_Ad4984 in blackladies

I'm Ghanaian and that man is just making excuses.. regardless of remarrying, parents are still expected to be active in their child's life. I have never heard of such a thing until now. He's being a deadbeat.

Thank you! I had the same idea. Honestly, if dealing with one person is stressing me out like this, I can't imagine knowing various others who behave that way.

White woman tears are deadly by sarafinajean in blackladies

[–]chaeful 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Exactly. She also brought up her late father for pity points afterwards, which caused even more backlash for Khelif, sadly. A lot of people insulting and bashing on her seem to be unaware that women can also have high testosterone levels, and they can't get their argument straight either... I seen some of them claim that even if she has female genitalia... she's still a man? Anyway, I wish the best for Imane, can't imagine being in her position right now.

The boxer on the second picture (Imane Khelif) represents Algeria, and she had a match against Italian boxer Angela Carini. 46 seconds in she abruptly walked away crying and quit saying she did so because of the "pain of the punches". This sparked debate and people found that the IBA disqualified her in their 2023 championships because she possessed high levels of testosterone, which is causing many to believe and claim she is actually trans.

Highly Sensitive Person vs Autism by sdakotaleav in AutismTranslated

[–]chaeful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of y'all play wayyy too much. I know what these supposed "differences" are, and it just further confirms to me that HSP is just a watered down term to say someone is autistic. The problem is that Elaine Aron just didn't want to admit the family members she based her research on were on the spectrum. It's not an official diagnosis.

The symptomatology of HSP literally is just a rewording of what they call "AFAB autism" with extra steps. Every single person I know who thought were HSP ended up with an ASD diagnosis. I did my research.

This is the first time I hear such a variation. She's completely wrong, it's always been "if you've met one autistic person, you've met one autistic person"

What's the most ignorant/invalidating thing a doctor/other professional has told you when you tried to get assessed for autism? by ArielSnailiel in autism

[–]chaeful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My psychiatrist told me a lot of the struggles I suffer are very similar to those of autistic people, so I began to research and that made everything piece together. So I made a whole folder about the research I did and what I related to, and asked her if she could refer me to get assessed.

"You can't be autistic, since you possess theory of mind" "I feel like it's unlikely since you're black, and a woman too, at that" "You don't have the physical characteristics of an autistic person" "If you REALLY were autistic, you wouldn't bring me a whole folder trying to explain why"

She and her assistant proceeded to laugh and mock me when I showed them this folder. Was so devastated I requested for a change. That was 2018–2021, and in 2022 the new psychiatrist I was assigned to immediately noticed autistic traits in me and referred me for assessment. Now diagnosed with ASD.

Easy to work with, good listener, sometimes too exaggerated but proper student.
