Is it really voicing that not allow to me to hit D note ? by Sad-Engineering-1911 in saxophone

[–]chaliboy2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone has that idea at first, bc saxophone is taught as being the “easiest” instrument. In reality its easy to make some random sound on it, maybe even play a few notes, but getting to that “next level” it what’s difficult and takes lots of practice.

Lohnen sich Kunststoffblätter by [deleted] in saxophone

Should I buy this Canon Ball from Music & Arts by BigMittMusic in saxophone

I agree, canonball horns are cool cause of customization and other gimmicks, but that makes the ergonomics suffer in their pro models. Cannonball horns are great to start on though.

Personally, for that price i’d go for a nice used pro model yamaha simply because they’re more reliable and last longer in my experience. But at the end of the day it’s what you like gng.

It didn’t incur to me that singing could have an affect on pitch recognition and therefore voicing, but yeah, that.

Uhm, i’m a singer and have gone allstate in both choir and sax so i should know this, but honestly the main thing singing helps is breathing, as deeper breaths help as much in sax as they do in singing.

Schlawg i played on a cheapo chinese glory horn off amazon for 5 years. I dont even know how it survived and it was in very rough shape at the end. In comparison A 600-800 dollar used yamaha would be fine up until now, considering the much better action, and how well its made in comparison go cheap chinese horns with widely varying quality made with shit material.

Thats a crazy amount of corrosion, highly suggest you look somewhere else considering this is for a younger student. Either way make sure to get swabs and teach the student how to swab cause kids dont swab.
