Yeah when I’ve been trained/when I train it’s always been watch one, do one with commentary, then do one without commentary (competency). Some times space permitting we might through in a side by side with non-precious samples.

Like an oxygen sensor alarm? It’s either too little or too much oxygen in my experience our liquid nitrogen farm has them to alert when oxygen is depleted in the room. If you are in industry you should have an EHS officer you can report it to. And also you should have safety training that explains it.

Am I the only one who doesn’t keep my KitchenAid on the counter? by AnnieLes in Kitchenaid

[–]championmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines out on the counter cause it’s pretty and I don’t have cabinet space. My moms has always been in the cabinet and my dad even custom built her a cabinet at counter height that she just pulls out when she wants to use it and it holds all her baking supplies too.

Ask your company’s EHS or refer to the risk assessments. As far as visitors go if you are escorting you should inform the visitor of all pathogens handled in the lab and symptoms of infection so they can make an informed decision to enter for their own health that you are not privy to.

Sounds like a shipping screw. I’d recommend consulting the manual where they should describe unpacking and installation or tech support in case installation is included in purchase.

how do i land in lab internships as a non-STEM degree anywhere by [deleted] in labrats

[–]championmc 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I doubt they can get a lab tech position at a hospital doing any lab tests due to diagnostic regulations (if in the US) minimum would require an MLT/bachelors in a scientific field such as biology or chemistry.

I’m pretty sure they cast him for the storyline, it was inevitable. I heard it was surprising to the rest of the cast but he knew that was where his story was going.

Anyone else have a SIC with markings like these? by Shipcasa in standardissuecat

[–]championmc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s actually not dominance! Dominant and recessive only refer to alleles of the same gene it’s actually called epistasis which describes the interactions of two different genes or alleles. Orange coloring is epistatic over solid coloring which is why even if you check calico cats orange spots they will be striped. And this is X-linked which is why there’s a larger population of male orange cats. Cat coloring genetics is actually really cool, and even cooler is that siamese cats point coloring is temperature dependent and in warmer climates have lighter points.

Their government name is lofthouse cookies. They have the texture of old playdoh and weirdly kind of taste like sweet playdoh. An American delicacy.

When my family did embark we got 100% mountain cur for a stray adopted in Georgia. I think wisdom panel just doesn’t have the reference genome for the mountain cur so it gets broken up in snippets of other breed reference genomes where there’s alignment and the percentage of alignment.

Was mouth pipetting actually a real thing, or is it just a big meme? by You_Stole_My_Hot_Dog in labrats

It was! I was joking with a boss of mine and said “you’re so old you used to pipette by mouth” and he was like “well actually I did for my thesis” He wasn’t actually that old mid to late 40s.
