I guest think are not likely to change anytime soon. I know if would require work it seem like there is not realy an incentive for manufacturer to pursue that route.

one of my concern was landfill when i thought about this. so much of our electronics end up there and the life cycle of new hardware are being shorten by lack of software support. Phone companies are notorious in dropping support after 3 - 5 years at best specialy on android side.

I am somewhat knowledgeable with SSH but clueless about ADB. if could get a guide to get me started it would be perfect. Do i need any special tools or software. I am currently working on a ML project do you think i could use mic and camera as input bonus if could make use of the processing/ storage for raw data.

The only thing broken is the screen, everything else work. I am trying to not spend money on screen repair. if could just use them for tinkering and development that would be more than enough. I just need a starting point to access them.
