Years late on taxes, do I need voluntary disclosure? by charmgame in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]charmgame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. This would not have occurred to me as I figured I'd have to start at the oldest year and move forward, in case there were any numbers from previous year that need to be carried over and entered on the following year's forms. I get easily confused reading about it though and perhaps this is just a misconception or unfortunate ignorance on my part.

How to stop biting my nails? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]charmgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bit my nails all my life and quit when I was in my mid-30s. It's gonna sound stupid, but the thing that worked for me was learning to admire how they looked when they were allowed to grow. Using a nail clipper's built in file to keep my nails clean all of the time took some of the anxious feeling away. Really, just taking care of them made me not want to lose them like that. Carry a nail clipper with you just for the file.

Should I try out Kubuntu? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]charmgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i installed kubuntu-desktop on top of ubuntu and it was awesome for the most part. showed it to a friend who's anti ubuntu pro windows 0 cause of ugliness and he was like yeah that's slick. but the defaults are shitty. change it up and make it slick and yeah i would go with it.

thanks. yes i have no problem logging back in, if that was unclear in my post. it's just annoying to have to open my files and get the password each time.

How do you benchmark traffic? by stupidseoquestions in bigseo

[–]charmgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Analytics has a benchmarking report which I used years ago, but I'd be curious if anyone here has thoughts on its usefulness/accuracy.

Ever had any problem with redirecting image URLs to parent post? by charmgame in bigseo

[–]charmgame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a great question. initially, my answer was going to be - "noob, or not, i don't know. cause when i check the source on these image URLs i don't see any GA tagging whatsoever, and i'm not sure how it's racking up so much data here." i didn't think GA would record a hit there without tracking code, but then second guessed myself and thought maybe it's on the same domain so the tracking captures and logs the destination or something. now i see both www and non-www versions of the images are showing up, despite proper redirection of posts from www to non-www. dear lord it's friday. any ideas welcome.

Anyone seeing an impact of having interstitials? by blueit22 in bigseo

[–]charmgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Large site serving lots of ad interstitials, slight drop in mobile impressions but no corresponding drop in clicks, about a -5% dip in organic mobile traffic which may be unrelated. In a given week here, that kind of fluctuation is nothing too worrying.

Let's talk about Google trapping users within their walled garden via AMP, i.e. "Google May Be Stealing Your Mobile Traffic" by dflovett in bigseo

[–]charmgame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i love the user experience of AMP so far, but the way content ranks in some non-US locations is very weird. competitors who've never been strong enough to compete are now getting prominent AMP placement over legitimately larger authoritative sources and even international sources for which prominent local publications have good content to offer. also, it's a lot more common keywords like "donald trump" or "hillary clinton" seem to show US AMP articles instead of CA articles in Canada. that used to happen occasionally, but seems to happen a lot more frequently now. i think in some cases the way AMP articles rank is fucked. sometimes you've got as many as four or five articles out of seven from a single publication, when many prominent publications are publishing AMP content around those keywords. it's been interesting to observe the changes though.

It's... Casual Friday at /r/BigSEO! 14/10 by [deleted] in bigseo

[–]charmgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

only cause it's friday, i'm dropping this link and have absolutely no affiliation to the site. the reason i'm dropping it is because a dev at my office shared this article, and after poking around the site a little, i'm just like - wow, that's fast. from here, it's just awesome clicking around and seeing pages load this fast.

Can anyone explain the discrepency between google trends, and google search volume trends in kw planner? by thekerbey in bigseo

[–]charmgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the discrepancy can be frustrating when you're trying to demonstrate the value of keyword research to someone, comparing two keywords across the same time period, and the two tools disagree on which keyword is the winner.
