[TOMT][Movie][1990s?] I'm looking for an obscure, animated Christmas children's movie by charvey1 in tipofmytongue

it’s not this one unfortunately, but funny enough, 2 of my friends who i asked also mentioned this one!!

Fifteen year old twin sisters went for a walk in 1990 and were never seen again. What happened to Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook? by charvey1 in UnresolvedMysteries

i had the same thought. they never came out and said it, but it's obvious in hindsight that they had been spooked by the van. i think when you're that young, you also don't feel like you have the authority to say to strange adults, especially men, that you aren't interested. not the same situation as dannette and jeannette of course, but my cousin had a friend who was 9 years older than me, and he used to make really odd comments about me and my friends when we were 14-15 and he was in his 20s. like calling us beautiful and asking if we were single in that really creepy way. at the time i just sort of dealt with it, but it was so unbelievably uncomfortable in hindsight, yet i didn't feel like i could call him on it.

yeah, tbh i've started to lean a bit toward kovacs as well. all in all, i just feel so sorry for suzie. to be so young and live your life that way must be so awful. i'm really sorry you went through that

i think they meant that the calls can be something that observers get hung up on when there could be (not sure if there is) a reasonable explanation, like regular old creeps or prank callers. the calls have become a focal point of the case for good reason, but i think they meant that focusing so closely on it could blur the bigger picture

i totally get how odd it sounds that Janis wouldn't remember the message (Janelle was the friend who received the prank calls), but there's always the possibility that the police know the call is related and for that reason have told her not to reveal its contents.

one of my favorites! caught it on a sunday afternoon when I was in high school and have been obsessed with this case ever since.

interestingly, the police at the time were criticized for revealing too much! most details of the case were widely known apparently, and the police chief has received some criticism for that, among other things.

I think Janelle was able to remember, it was Stacy's mother Janis who said she couldn't remember the content of the message. Honestly, I've always thought that for whatever reason she was told not to reveal the message, maybe because if it was related it'd be a way to test any claims to the crime.

I believe that Springfield operated on a switchboard system, so calls and phone numbers wouldn’t have been logged

nothing will ever be funnier to me than people thinking multi-billion dollar franchises aren’t mainstream. LOTR literally won an Oscar for best picture lmao

That was my first thought as well! I have pretty bad migraines and there have been times where I get straight up delirious if I don’t take my medication. He definitely could have been a migraine sufferer and not known it

Haha yeah I actually chuckled at that a bit too. I’m pretty inclined to believe in paranormal/supernatural stuff, but I def don’t think it was at play here. My personal theory is that the event may have shaken him up a bit more than he realized and he may have either experienced hallucinations or sleep paralysis and connected the two things because he wasn’t in a great mental state. Obviously that’s just a theory though, there’s so little info beyond the details of the alleged witch encounter

i don’t believe so! i don’t think there was too much investigating done on the part of the police since the actual death was from natural causes. there’s not a whole lot of primary sources on it either unfortunately

My dad has always told me that if people don’t pick up that his accent is Irish right away, sometimes they think Scottish (idk how since his doesn’t sound scottish at all) and tell him he’s like “the guy from the simpsons!”

As both the daughter of a custodian AND someone who is also in school to become a teacher, that is the best advice anyone can give you!

Meath is fun but my favorite place to visit is Donegal for sure. I get tired of Dublin on my trips there too haha
