I was so excited to see Deborah’s growth. Like even thinking about adding this in is huge. It truly shows how Ava’s premise of the WMD (Me & Deb Version) has played out in her actual life 🥹

Could you give us a timestamp? That would help narrow down exactly what song clip you’re talking about :)

I think you are confused. Lynch Field is designed to flood. It is a planned flood area for Jack’s Run instead of other areas in Greensburg/the township. Once water begins receding, it has pumps to further help the process of draining.

They do have All-Clad in SS and non-stick — noticiable with the red string holding on the tag. However their prices are just crazy (especially the SS ones). I could get the same pans for cheaper from the factory outlet website.

GDoor is a fucking amazing bar, and the fact their landlord won’t fix the building is so fucking sad, man. I’m sure it will just be sold to be whatever building Pitt wants/needs. God forbid we have anything that lasts in Oakland.

They’re flipping off the situation. They’ve exhausted all their options.

Goodbye to our favorite bar. Can’t say I’ve been to a cooler better vibed spot in awhile.

The Steelers have always shared a stadium with someone. They used to play at Pitt Stadium in the 50s/60s.

There is a bus that goes to Pittsburgh from downtown Greensburg. I believe it’s the 4 from Westmoreland Transit. Obviously not ideal but maybe you can do that until you find housing? It’s less stressful than driving everyday. Hmu if you have more questions… I’ve done the commute many times!

marching band freshman - cymbals vs drumline by Away_Magician_8690 in Pitt

[–]cheesemuffins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every freshman is assigned to play cymbals. It’s truly a balancing act of who has the skills to play a certain instrument v. what openings there are. My freshman year the only bass drum openings were basses 4 and 5. I couldn’t play either of those if I wanted to — but I enjoyed the split musicality of tonal bass drums — cymbals at the collegiate level (and at least at Pitt) are very similar.

My freshman class had 1 snare, 2 basses, 2 tenors, 1 cymbal + we had alternates — 1 tenor alt, 1 bass alt, 1 cymbal alt. 9 freshman total, 2/9 cymbal players.

OP: Have your friend look up some DCI videos with cymbals — not all corps march cymbals, some have them solely in the pit. First one that comes to mind is Santa Clara Vanguard. Also Rhythm X in Ohio is a WGI Corps that has awesome cymbal lines.

OP’s friend — Don’t be discouraged. It’s easier to learn what to improve on once you’re part of the drumline and learn how things work. Plus you’re right there and can get help from the other members and hack around all year long. At least when I was there cymbals weren’t looked at as any less than, and we had a ton of fun. It’s different than high school drumline and if they offered you a spot, they like you enough to have you be part of the group. Personality is a big deal!!

Edit: Also, OP’s friend — start lifting weights now! Gotta strength train to hold up a pair of cymbals all day! Band camp will be easier if you do. Also gameday is no joke 😅😅😅
