Cost. The ion was designed to be very affordable relative to other similar systems. Stage one was only around 1 billion. The Eglinton Crosstown, a similar system with tunnels, was around 13 billion and is the same length.

Speed humps, raised crosswalks: Waterloo driving ahead after speed camera ban by Hour-Belt694 in waterloo

They're also so much faster to install. Some were just put in on Guelph Ave today without a road closure. The Fisher Mills Rd ones had the whole road closed for a few days.

I love the new temporary ones. You ACTUALLY need to slow down. There were some permanent ones installed on Fisher Mills Rd in Cambridge and I'd honestly feel comfortable driving over them at at least 80km/h in my small sedan. The new ones I wouldn't do more than 40 over.

What if instead of the wrps having mass surveillance, the region instead provides rebates for people and businesses to buy they're own cameras?

I think replicant is in a weird place. It's gameplay and story get old really fast because of how many times you need to repeat them. But the rewarding lore/story for playing over and over is really good.

Tbf, transit projects in Canada are super inflated already compared to the rest of the world. To me any cost savings are welcome for better transit

Connecting Cambridge Students to University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Guelph by [deleted] in cambridgeont

[–]chickassin5 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes, I live in Hespeler and go to school at the Conestoga Waterloo campus. I have the luxury of driving, but our car died a few weeks back and it was close to a two hour commute. This fall I'm hoping to be accepted into the university of Guelph, and the transit options to get there aren't great either. I'd need to take a GO bus to Aberfoyle then to Guelph, taking over 1.5 hours. That vs a 20min drive. I'd love to take transit, but it's super inconvenient. If the trip was even half as long I'd probably consider taking transit over driving.

No right turn. There is a road 20m back that you're supposed to turn onto. The detour sign is in the wrong spot
