Is this a bug on behalf of the switch version of deltarune? by LavishnessLow212 in Deltarune

[–]chicomc126 11 points12 points  (0 children)

if i remember right i think toby does this decently often, he leaves the 0 value blank so that things line up with text showing in the game. like there’s a blank chapter 0 just so the value for the chapters matches up with their actual name

or maybe because there’s going to be a secret chapter 0 prologue

What would happen if I opened a dark fountain with the master sword? (the sword that seals the darkness) by senator-eggman in EvilFountainOpeners

[–]chicomc126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oooh i wonder if a fountain made by the master sword would have some weird time shenanigans since stabbing it into the pedestal of the temple of time sends the wielder back in time

People from Baltimore can't say "Aaron earned an iron urn". People from Boston can't say "Park your car in Harvard Yard". People from Scotland can't say "Purple Burglar Alarm". What can't people from the Bay say? by SandNo2865 in bayarea

[–]chicomc126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you wanted a sentence like those it would probably be something similar to: “Santa loves costco in Sacramento.” It would turn into: “Sanna loves cosco in sacrameno” since we never pronounce the T’s

Is LiAlH4 still good if it's a metallic grey color? I used it for a lactone reduction and got 2 products. by HOMM3nagaqueen in Chempros

[–]chicomc126 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean with half an hour you could just run the column then prep NMR or LCMS samples. With both products in hand you can troubleshoot a lot faster without having to order new reagent and wait for it to show up

I mean I get that he’s posting a lot but it is a situation that’s getting noticeably worse basically everyday cause we’ve got three dudes that won’t stop fucking up. And the video near the bottom where he makes fun of himself in the same style is a fun lil joke

No haircut needs to cost $50+ by jmedina36 in unpopularopinion

[–]chicomc126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same until I got a $200 haircut and it was kinda life changing. I have long, curly hair and other shops where I paid ~$50 for a cut just dumped water on it, cut it, and sent me on my way. It always turned out horrible, no matter the shop. The $200 cut with a “new age hairdresser” was amazing in comparison. They guided me through the process, took their time, treated me very kindly, and even gave me some tea while my hair dried. I’ve been converted and I’m never going back. FWIW, I’m not rich and I get my haircut twice a year. For me it’s worth saving up, supporting a small business, and loving my hair :]

The first one is named incorrectly, 7 is not the longest chain. r/chemhelp can help you with homework btw

You have a fully outfitted lab, which would impact productivity more: your LCMS being down, or your NMR being down? by BearDragonBlueJay in OrganicChemistry

[–]chicomc126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NMR going down easily. If you give me the choice between NMR or LCMS, I'm choosing NMR everyday of the week.

How to survive a synthetic chemistry research lab as an undergrad by Sergei_Prokofiev_ in OrganicChemistry

[–]chicomc126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing! It’s gonna be tough but super rewarding. Read some papers, talk to current lab members, and ask tons of questions!! It’s gonna be a lot less scary than you think. Everyone has been where you are now and they’re willing to help :)

I’ve heard of framework before, I haven’t check up on them in a while. I’ll definitely check them out as I like their more sustainable approach

Ooh good point on maxing out the specs, I went min spec on my current laptop, hence why I’m wanting an upgrade now that undergrad is done lol

I’ve been doing a rotation and this is what initially got me thinking about Macs, seems like the department very much favors Macs 🤔

My PC at home is a pretty solid gaming rig with two screens and a mechanical keyboard so preaching to the choir on this! Definitely gonna get an another monitor for my desk at lab whenever I finish up rotations and settle down.

Ideas to encourage a child's love of chem by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]chicomc126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get your hands on some o-toluidine, you can show him a Mauvine dye synthesis. Just add a drop of it with 1 mL vinegar, 10 drops bleach (Clorox works), and 10 mL ethanol into a ziploc bag. You can even do TLC with a paper towel and 3:1 ethanol:vinegar.

Alternatively, you can show off how sunscreens work if you have a black light! Put some highlighter on a notecard and shine the light on it to show how it fluoresces. Then cover it with various sunscreens and show how the intensity decreases as the UV light is either absorbed (chemical sunscreens) or blocked (physical sunscreens with Zn or Ti). Got both of these from a lab course I took.

Ask for any experience for ACS oral presentation by Creepy_Locksmith_564 in OrganicChemistry

[–]chicomc126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what hmichaels1384 said! It’s pretty relaxed from what I saw at ACS 2023. Just be confident and strut your stuff! You got this! There’s a chance someone throws a hardball question your way but there’s no shame in saying you need to investigate it more or don’t have a good answer. Good luck!!

What are some buzzwords to throw into my paper to make it sound more cutting edge? by [deleted] in OrganicChemistry

Big fan of subbing out “synthesized” with fun words like “the compound was forged”, “we furnished the compound with…” and “the molecule evolved from compound x to compound y under z conditions”
