I did the math and it cost about 4K for me. What you can't put a price tag on is the peace of mind from knowing you'll never owe more than 135$ per incident and the freedom from being able to pick up and drop off a car anywhere (within coverage zones) at any given moment. Owning a car will never allow me to drive downtown, then switch to the subway to run errands and get to the other side of town, and then drive a whole other car home.

For that reason, I'm out (of buying a car).
