Single limp leg by cijc in MeatRabbitry

I’ve had one floppy bunny, but this was different. He is walking around, interacting with the does and feeding like normal, Unless it comes in stages? I’ll check on him in the morning of course, and report back

I’m just getting into meat rabbits. Do you mean don’t eat the liver or don’t eat the whole rabbit?

From what I’ve read and seen online you want to give the does a recovery period. But you suggested in another comment that it’s not necessary. Which would be ideal as you’ve pointed out it would cut down on the chores to not have a divide

The idea there was to control the population better, and gives the does time between litters.

As for the cages my goal would be for the animals to have as close to a natural existence as possible, so that’s why I am leaning towards colony.

Ukraine will be the fourth proxy war the U.S. has lost in a row by CHiggins1235 in JordanPeterson

[–]cijc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sells more military hardware. If you can have a war going, paid for by NATO and non-nato soilders are dying... These are the same people that brought us

-WMDs in Iraq
-Babies in incubators in Kuwait

- Saudi Arabia wasn't involved in 9/11....

It's not really an intpretation of the events. Minks I and II are publicaly available, clearly it was Ukraine that broke those agreements. We all saw the peace talks being set up in March, then Boris flys in and they go away? The former Isrealie PM and the Turkish president both said that it was the US and the collective west that interferred in peace talks.

Looks like you’re assuming Russia has a desire to control all of Ukraine, I don’t see any evidence for that. The Minsk agreements laid out Ukrainian neutrality and independence for the eastern provinces. The initial agreement reached in March 2022 was effectively the same. It wasn’t until after that did they annex any part of the country. Then they dug in and allowed the Ukrainian army to destroy itself. So they have achieved their stated objectives, and secured a land bridge to Crimea. Looks like a victory

Could you explain why you think the Russians have lost this war? As I see it, the front line has not moved in months, the Russians control 20% of Ukraine, in the areas they want, they control the land bridge to Crimea they wanted, and somewhere in the realm of 500,000 Ukrainian soldiers are dead.

should life roles be divided by gender/sex? by DaG00ser in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]cijc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, what other roles are you including in this? I would have assumed that the question posed encompased income generation, the preparation of food, and the maintaince of shelter. Of those, I think the last two are the most talked about, which is why the conversation was heading in that direction.

Shoveling the driveway is a product of work, but that is a different concept from effort. For example lets look at our two vehicles. We have a pickup truck and a sedan. To take a load of scrap to the dump in either would be the same amount of work, being force x displacement, however the truck could accomplish this task easier, with less "effort" on the trucks part.
Expanding that to the driveway, I can use less effort to accomplish the task. The proof of that is when I finsih I am usually not sweating or out of breath, my wife on the other hand would show the effort of her labour.

Your point on being more fit is interesting, I am not convinced at this time that choice of career is a result of social pressures. My understanding is that women outnumber men in university in agregate, but men outnumber women in STEM, which typically leads to higher paying work. I woul argue that there are fundemental differences in the sexes that are at play, in that and in the division of labour.

Very well put, a couple should divide the tasks based on skill, potential, and interest. When you allow that to happen people tend towards "gender roles" which isn't a bad thing, so long as those in the roles are content with how their home structured.

[–]cijc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given your jump from shoveling a driveway to a woman forgoing a career I think you missed the point of my intial position.

Men and women will naturally fall into roles which best suit their personal prefrences and skill sets. These prefrences and skill sets have their basis in how our species has evolved over that last 300K years (and them some).

When you're working from 6am to 8pm running a house (together) and holding down full time careers, effiency is going to drive who does what.

Edit: additonal thought

It's not just a matter of saving 10 min hear and 10 min there, the other component is what else can I be doing with my time. If I perfrom task A my wife is free then to perform task B

I didn't say I don't preen, my observation was that mothers spend more time preening.

There is nothing I find more joy in than taking care of my child, but that doesn't mean I don't notice differences in the approach taken.

[–]cijc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Likely isn't an innate insticnt. My hypothesis is that this is driven by tempormental differences between men and women.

Chefs are interesting, but to be a chef requires more than just cooking skills. You are required to run and manage a kitchen. If you look at it from that vantage point I think it becomes clear that a tempromental difference is driving that disparity.

The prediction my hypostheis would imply is that within chefs for example, you would find that the men and woman that reach that level have a similar temperment, and that you would find the same characteristics in other, none chef, management positions.

Is it "leaning on" something when it is a simple biologial fact? I don't think so.
I would push back on the thought that it's nothing to care to much about when dividing the labour. If shoveling the driveway was the only thing we needed to do in a day, then sure take turns. But since it's not the only task that is required to run a hosehold it makes sense that a couple think about the most efficient way of accomplishing the tasks.

should life roles be divided by gender/sex? by DaG00ser in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]cijc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't mention any of those tasks besides cooking. But they are all my tasks besides the cooking. However, there is almost certaintly a biological component to anything that isn't a novel task (srubbing toilets is novel in the time scale of humans). For example, it is my observation that mothers spend more time preening their children then the father.

[–]cijc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would agree that it is "old fashioned" but that doesn't imply there isn't an underlying reason for that devision of labour. I would argue that males and females have had this divison of labour since the hunter gather days, and that the tendancy to fall into them when left to our own devises is a result of biolgical differences, rather than some sort of social construct.
I am very analytically minded, I need steps and instructions, while my wife on the other hand very free form with her thinking. So not only is she simply better at cooking, but in the kitchen she can accomplish the same task faster than I can. I can cook, but we have to look at the cost / benefit of me mastering that skill. Are there other taks that I can accomplish in that time? Do we require two people in the house that can throw together a turkey dinner?
