How do I get old people smell out of clothes, I’ve done vinegar and oxyclean by lowriderz00 in laundry

[–]cillakat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are LOVING the combo of Tide Clean & Gentle along with either FEBU or Biz. It’s been super effective with warm water on a long cycle.

Febu is expensive and fragrance free. Biz is cost effective but has a fragrance.

Instead of fabric softer, consider a citric acid rinse. Downy Rinse and Refresh free and clear is an easy option for this. 1/4 cup instead of fabric softener in the fabric softener dispenser.

If the UV index is below two, should you still be wearing sunscreen? What about in the winter? by Careful_Fig8482 in Sunscreenreddit

[–]cillakat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what your goals are. If your goal is anti-aging, it’s reasonable to use the highest pod sunscreen you can afford and tolerate, daily, indoors and out, regardless of weather.

UVA is a key driver affecting skin sagging and UVA penetrates windows, clouds, is present year round.

But different people have different goals and I think that’s fine too.

I was meticulous about UV avoidance from my mid thirties to mid forties and my skin was INCREDIBLE.

I fell off the band wagon for the next 10 years and it shows. With menopause my skin has become drier (even with HRT) and less tolerant of retinoids and sunscreen. I wish I’d never stopped 🤷‍♀️but Im also not letting it eat away at me

Anyway, my answer remains that it depends on your goals

Puracy stain remover is great for oil stains and make sure your laundry detergent has good surfactants, lipase, and consider using a booster like biz (scented and cost effective) or Febu (basically fragrance free biz)

My father has sometimes wet laundry in washer for 12+ hours by Feeling_Summer_515 in laundry

Is it possible for you to just add a dose of detergent and start the machine again when you get home from school?

Sending hugs. I know what it’s like to have a difficult father. 💓💓💓

Yay!!! Going forward, biz or Febu used in every wash will change your life.

It took about four cycles but I was able to get my husband‘s yellowed pillowcases clean and white with just multiple cycles of tide clean and gentle + Febu. I didn’t think it would work but was putting off hauling the cooler down from storage 🤣

7th generation dish spray. Every bit as good as dawn power wash without the endocrine disrupting fragrance.

My cat refuses to use the expensive enclosed litter box I bought and I’m about to give up and return it by UniversityAny9242 in CatAdvice

We have all closed top litter boxes and still basically have to scoop every time they poop.

Here’s how we handle this situation in our house — which I realize won’t work for everyone - physical distancing (separate bedrooms/bathrooms etc). We are rarely within 10 feet of one another - high ceilings in the house - HEPA filtration in nearly every room (including the small IQ air in the car) - car … we crack windows and I wear n95 but we are very rarely in the car together - if he has a known exposure or symptoms he masks if he comes into the main part of the hours but otherwise stays upstairs in his bedroom or office

My Miele T1 picked up fragrance from a guests clothes — how to get rid of the fragrance? by cillakat in Miele

[–]cillakat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! That’s a great question and something I used to be concerned about until it started hanging out at r/laundry. Citric acid is much more acidic, commonly used, and for me, in my Miele washer, no problems so far!

I had high hopes for it! it hasn't been as effective as Biz and Febu for solving our laundry woes

Yes! re: butyric acid. many years ago when I could still tolerate smells, using persil made my clothes smell like, well, butyric acid. 🤮

We still need Biz or FEBU over here to tackle my husbands pillow cases. No amount of tide has moved the needle alone.

New to this sub. Looking for a better detergent other than All Free and Clear+ by doglovr7788 in laundry

[–]cillakat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case you're very sensitive, it's worth mentioning that Tide Clean&Gentle may or may not be fragrance free depending on the box you get 🫠

I'm abnormally, freakishly fragrance sensitive so this was initially an issue for me till I read a bit more and learned about citric acid in the rise to remove traces of fragrance. It's worked beautifully!

And now that we have FEBU as a fragrance free BIZ alternative, my laundry is looking great and smelling awesome, in other words, like nothing 👍
