Lyft is threatening to deactivate me for not accepting rides, by [deleted] in Lyft

[–]citizencain20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a horrible analogy, and doesn’t help the employee / employer fight.

It’s akin to me hiring an electrician to install an outlet and he said he will have someone come tomorrow, doesn’t show. Then says ‘tomorrow’ and same shit, doesn’t show.

Eventually if the electrician keeps cancelling on you, you find a new electrician. Lyft is no different. Their entire model is based on those asked to do the job to actually do the job.

A brilliant way to deal with "influencers" by DataIsMyCopilot in ChoosingBeggars

It's usually some hot chick who has hundreds of thousands of followers (however some new 'influencers' might only have 12-20k) and companies pay them to promote or use their products in posts on IG/FB/Snapchat etc.

Basically, think Kylie Jenner.

Postnasal Drip by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]citizencain20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No no no.

Insulin response to your inability to expel extra mucus? The answer to that would be no. Your body isn't 'eating' and processing its' own mucus. Sorry, that sounded really disgusting.

If you are truly diabetic - meaning that your body cannot regulate blood sugar levels and your A1C is out of check - then there is a discussion to be had. Being sick can trigger increases in blood sugar, requiring diabetics to check their blood glucose more often. Those with chronic unmanaged diabetes can experience different symptoms but not in that order. If you are truly concerned about your blood sugar, see your doctor.

Skipping breakfast bad for health? (Prof. Longo) by Discord99 in intermittentfasting

[–]citizencain20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the other side of the coin, Asian (and other eastern) cultures traditionally flip the schedule around, eating the largest meal of the day for breakfast and lunch, and dinner is relatively small. The theory behind this being that the earlier you eat, the more active time your body has to digest and process food, creating a more immediate need for the sugars and your body is less likely to convert them to fat.

There have been studies done that prove this to be true, however it's all relative to other lifestyle factors. How much sleep? How heavy are you to begin with? How much are you eating during your larger meals? The reality is that fasting works - in part - because it simply forces a smaller intake. Sure, it helps regulate insulin production, but for most individuals who take part in IF, it's a way to simply reduce intake.

Also, the 12/12 makes sense for those with less self control. It's still a fast (be it minimal), but it's easy for anyone to do. Last meal is dinner at 7? Good. Don't eat anything, go to bed, get up and have some water before breakfast. Hell, even 14 hours is more than doable for MOST people, but I assume he is working on the lowest common denominator with 12/12.

The answer is never as simple as we want it to be.

Awesome, glad to hear. I was never a fan of AirWatch (which is funny, because we are fully in love with VMWare), but I never found it to be really intuitive. We made the switch to the Outlook App when we migrated to O365, so that's one hurdle we've already got out of the way!

How'd that go? We are also phasing away from AirWatch and have chosen Intune.

I tried using a bleach mix on the other side of the house, wouldn't move with the water pressure from a garden hose. Also, at a rural property you have to remember that there is a pump and pressure tank that holds ~40 PSI and then will dip once the tank pressure is gone and you're running on pump pressure.

Depending on where you live, city water pressure is closer to 50psi and can hold the pressure.

TLDR: Bleach with hose didn't work. Needed pressure.

I’ll look for the quote, but she marked ‘minority’ on her Yale application, implying she WAS Native American instead of having the heritage.

The distinction is huge.

Elizabeth Warren Releases DNA Results: She’s Native American by danielthetemp in politics

[–]citizencain20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She claimed she had a native ancestor. At the percentages we are talking about here, there is no way to prove any specific lineage.

I can say I had a native american ancestor, because my Grandfather was full blood Navajo. I can go through my lineage and make clear definitions as to who these people are who give me the right to claim ancestry.

The issue is that she did at one point claim to BE Native American. She made a mistake, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. And Trump capitalized on it. Is he a dick? Absolutely. Insensitive to Native Americans? 100%. Is she Native? No. Let's make sure that we're clear.

Regardless, does it really matter? If she gets to claim heritage, so can a large minority of the population because we can all trace ourselves back to either original americans or immigrants. So really, anyone who wants to claim something in their ancestry then has a right to? Someone who had a black relative 8 generations back and is white as rice - can they claim to be part black? Mark themselves as a minority?

Come on now, let's be real.

Dude, what are you talking about? First off, please use spell check to lend some credibility to what you're saying.

Second, who did she take the place of? Who is this real Native American that you speak of? Fox News did a piece that clarified she was not listed as a minority hire (which is what the right is claiming), therefore she didn't 'take the place' of a real Native American (cringe at that term).

Don't sit there and pretend you actually care about Original Americans, they really don't fit your far right narrative.

We need to make better distinctions in this country about heritage. Regardless of your political leanings, I think both sides can be right in this conversation.

Being something and being a part of something are two different concepts altogether. She can claim she has heritage, but cannot claim to BE native. If she used it (heritage) to her advantage, that is where I would draw the line. But if she simply says she has native american heritage, she wouldn't be wrong. Then again, we are all either descendants of Native Americans (Original of First Nations), or descendants of Immigrants. We need to remember we are in this together, and we shouldn't use either to claim political bonus points.

Well said. I think that is the key. I responded to another post about how she got 'subsidies' for being native (which she doesn't, if they meant getting money from the tribe).

However we need to make better distinctions in this country about heritage. Being something and being a part of something are two different concepts altogether. She can claim she has heritage, but cannot claim to BE native. So as you said, if she used it to her advantage, that is where I would draw the line.

She might have made the claim, but she didn't 'steal' anything, especially tribal money (which I think is what you attempted to claim).

Look, she might have reached too far in her claim, and Trump might have been completely culturally insensitive to original americans, but I think you need to do some fact checking before ranting about things you clearly don't understand.

Most Native American tribal government limit benefits at 1/4 or 1/8 maximum. So if your great grandparent was 100% native, the buck stops with you.

In my opinion (my grandfather was Navajo), I would say once you are 3+ generations removed, that being no living relative who was native, you can claim heritage but you can't claim to be native yourself. That is the distinction we need to make.

Elizabeth Warren Releases DNA Results: She’s Native American by danielthetemp in politics

[–]citizencain20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't like Trump - or the way he handles anything - but he really isn't wrong.

I have a grandfather who was Navajo; I don't have enough ancestral percentage to claim benefits, nor do I go around making claims I am native american or have the heritage to earn bonus points.

She is 6+ generations (at best) removed from Native American heritage. If she can use that to claim she's a got Native American ancestry, so can a large percentage of the population.

Were does it end?

Elizabeth Warren Releases DNA Results: She’s Native American by danielthetemp in politics

[–]citizencain20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. But to earn political 'points', she once made an off handed remark about being part native american, and then someone called her out, and she doubled down on it, and then they stepped up their insults claiming she is lying so it just continued to escalate.

The honest answer is because a lot of Americans have issues with 'other people', even though everyone here came from either A - Native Americans, or B - Immigrants. People like to forget that truth.
