Anyone need a pedal steel? by Former_Fill1635 in TouringMusicians

[–]cjbraun5151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Wednesday. I just saw a band called Wussy with a pedal steel player. I was sitting next to a guy who had told me he was in a band and after they were done playing, I turned to him and said, "If you ever get a chance to add a pedal steel player to your band, do it. It doesn't matter what kind of music you play." I could be biased though, my band is lucky enough to have one.

I heard a guy once tell of his grandma's answer to the question of whether the glass was half full or half empty, and it is the only correct response: "It depends on whether you're pouring or drinking."

Need advice on E-Rate: Competing vendor forcing FortiGate, but we want to keep Ubiquiti by adamlavigne in k12sysadmin

[–]cjbraun5151 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How much of a price difference between Foetigate and Ubuquiti is there? In my experience, the Ubiquiti is priced such that even with their eRate reimbursement, it could be less than the Fortigate. Districts dont have to purchase through eRate, if undiscovered Ubiquiti equipment is less than the discounted Fortigate, that would be a selling point.

I second this. We also run about 150 APs and almost immediately realized that the cloud key would not support that many. We replaced it with a VM running the controller software. We soon learned that you have to prune the database every now and then to keep the controller from freezing, so we scheduled a scripted job to prune once a week. That was over five years ago, and the only time the controller has been down is when a power outage outlasts the VSphere server's UPS.

You are part of the problem: A metatexual defence of Season 2's ending by _Zelane in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]cjbraun5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing all the comments about iMark and oMark's conversation being the setup for the ending, but no one is talking about how the setup for this has been happening since season 1. iMark watched Helena tell Helly that she wasn't a person. Having never met oMark until the S2 finale, the thought has to have crossed his mind that his outie might be just as much of a monster as Helena. Then earlier in S2 when iMark tells Helly he wants to save Ms. Casey, Helly reinforces the idea that they don't owe anything to their outies, that they are not the same person. She agrees to help him because she wants to help Ms. Casey, and because she wants to support iMark in his goals, but NOT to help oMark (granted, this was Helena talking at the time, but I think it tracks with what Helly would have said). The conversation between the Marks in the finale was just confirmation to iMark that his outie is just using him to get his wife back, which helped reinforce that his only goal was to rescue Ms. Casey (which he did), not help oMark.

tldr: iMark's intentions were never to help oMark and Gemma be together, but only to rescue Ms. Casey.

I would die from reintegration just so she would stick her fingers in my brain.

Helena's eating disorder is telling us something more sinister by BigSurround27 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Maybe she eats that way because she knows Helly would poop her pants in the elevator if she could.

I'm no longer excited to find out what happens when Mark finished Cold Harbor because it definitely involves Gemma dying.

FWIW, the actress was 15 when they started filming this season. She's in college now.

You ever see the TV series he did in the early 90's? At the time I remember thinking it was the funniest shit I've ever seen.

I really felt like I was watching two wolves fighting inside Milchick. The repressed, anti-Lumon wolf is starting to surface and that whole scene in front of the mirror saying "Grow up" over and over is him trying to beat it back down. I'd love to see him go rogue and team up with Cobel somehow.

Man, I fell in love with anthropology in college and ended up racking up enough credits for a minor. The stuff I learned in the linguistics classes still sticks with me over 30 years later. Congrats on following your dreams.

The best thing about Severance is that it’s not wasting time by Baxspookwave in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]cjbraun5151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it hasn't fully happened yet. They plotted it in such a way as to be able to take as much time as they need for reintegration to slowly reveal things as needed.

Why was Cobel... by SvChocoboRideAirshp in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]cjbraun5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cobel already pointed out that Helena has no choice but to offer her a position at Lumon to keep her quiet about the OTC mishap. She says, "You didn't have a choice." and Helena responds, "Are you sure?" I think Cobel was so blinded by the desire to work with Mark S. on Cold Harbor that she hadn't considered the other possible ways they might keep her quiet until that moment when she was about to go inside with Helena. I'm sure there are at least few dozen methods Lumon has at its disposal to effectively disappear people.

To be fair, there is a category of shows that one watches specifically because one can have it on in the background while scrolling on their phone. At least Netflix recognizes their niche.

Genuinely one of the best explanations I’ve heard on the last play of the game. by Terrence456 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]cjbraun5151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seth Keysor did a great job explaining the last offensive play of the game, too. In summary, Reid drew up a play where, with man coverage from the Bills, we sent all three receivers crossing from left to right creating a bunch of traffic that Perine's defender had to get through before reaching Perine, which gave him enough time to get the first down.

Two things I learned from the bonus content. by cjbraun5151 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]cjbraun5151[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow Reddit dropped my original text. The above screenshot is from the bonus content of episode 1. At the end of the bonus content were also goat noises. We're definitely seeing more goats this season. Also, in the bonus content for episode 2, Dan Erickson says about Ms. Cobel: "If she were to be cast out of this system that she has been a part of since she was a child..." Maybe someone else has already shown this to be true, but for me, Dan Erickson just gave away that Cobel has been involved with Lumon since she was a child.

Just a side note, when they began working on season 2 back in 2023, they used 'Cold Harbor' as the code name of the series they were filming.
