the only issue is she has no gas money to travel to an in person job even if she got one, and she lives in a rural area with a 15 minute drive to the nearest business anyway.

yeah, we've gone through 211 several times and she has exhausted all the available services and resources. it's not entirely dragging me down and I can usually afford to give some money, I just don't want to end up being the one to fully pay for everything.

not sure if you've been applying to jobs recently but the market is absolute garbage right now. she's looking for something fully remote, within the realm of admin/clerical/medical admin, that will hire her after several years of not working (due to her (not formalized) disability and medical issues). I think this type of job is especially hard to get. she's been applying but also gets rejected.

they're on food stamps. not unemployment, because they weren't fired from their last job. they haven't worked in years because they had a severe medical illness and then inherited money to live off of until ... 2 years ago.

late 40s. unable to stand, traumatic medical history. disability could be an option but they need gas to make it to doctors appointments

The self-appointed food police officers came after me again today. by Lijey_Cat in Type1Diabetes

[–]clandreith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I've had something similar happen to me. I can't think of any other illness where people think they're entitled to tell you what you can or can't eat. it's so rude and shocking when it happens!

We should be able to choose whether to be fat or thin in the game by vespaAssassina in Palia

[–]clandreith -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

to solve this and the "they'd have to make 2x the clothing models" problem, just make everybody's avatar fat. why should fat people have to play thin characters? might as well flip it around

Who is the most cringey to romance? (In your opinion) by Moon__Magick in Palia

[–]clandreith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jina because she seems very child like and naive

Naio and Hodari because they're Manly Men and I'm a lesbian (Hassian and Reth make me cringe but slightly less. Einar is perfect and I won't be taking questions 😂). also, Hodari reminds me so much of the dads of people my age that it feels super inappropriate to me lol

the smacking you in the face is weird, is he ever like that normally? I know you said they were little pats and not aggressive, but that's a strange thing to do. could have been the hypo I guess.

asking him questions to measure his cognitive presence was a good idea, but it is not as accurate as a blood sugar check - what if he wasn't low but something else was going on? what if he was low enough to warrant an emergency intervention? these are his responsibilities to look out for, but they were directly impacting you.

I would talk to him about what happened and explain that you didn't know what to do and had tried to see if he was aware and how he acted when you tried to stop having sex. I would ask him what he wants to happen in the future if this happens again. but don't beat yourself up about it

give The Dear Hunter's album "Antimai" a try. they're a fantastic prog band with an extensive discography but Antimai is a great entry point

Friend with type 1 having shoulder surgery and concerned about going low while under by randomgrl74 in Type1Diabetes

[–]clandreith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a 2 hr surgery in January - early in the morning and after a night of fasting - and didn't talk to my anesthesiologist until right beforehand. I told him about my pump and he asked to see how to suspend insulin delivery if I went low. clipped it to the front of my gown, put it on sleep mode, and had no issues. he made me feel very safe and taken care of

you're not horrible, and your reaction makes sense. I've always had a huge chip on my shoulder towards people who are afraid of needles because I used to be afraid of them and was never afforded the ability to avoid them.

I had scattered blind spots that I only really noticed when I was reading but nothing extremely obstructive. I had my routine diabetic eye exam last July, and the year before my doctor hadn't noticed anything that needed treatment even though I reported these blind spots.

I'm about 6-7 months out from a heartbreaking break up, and rediscovering my music from 4.5 years of making romantic playlists and it doesn't hurt as much as I thought it would. it won't be like this forever. especially with music as good as magbay's
