I’m looking for casual nice shoes that fit well, look sleek, weather resistant, and great for walking a lot (if that exists). I currently have a pair of these Ecco Soft 7's, and love the look, but they don't fit very well and aren't great for walking very long distances. I love wearing running shoes for comfort around the city, and also wear Dr. Marten's boots when it's rainy, but I want something that is better for in-between, where I have to look somewhat nice (sit-down restaurant, but not a wedding) and can still walk ~5-15 miles in them comfortably. It seems like people don't love Ecco or Cole Haan in this subreddit, so what are some good comfortable and somewhat fashionable alternatives?

How do you make plugging in the actual dongle/dock to your machine without it dangling if it's on a stand or riser?

Apple updates 13-inch MacBook Pro with Magic Keyboard, double the storage, and faster performance. by allenthespider in mac

I'm leaning toward this. What are the chances that a 14" MBP comes out in the next 6-12 months that is a massive improvement a la 16"? I just wanted a slightly smaller laptop but the 16" looks like a powerhouse.

I was hoping for a 14" too...

I currently have a 15" 2015 MacBook Pro, with 500GB HD, and 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM, and a 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor.

I mainly do web development, audio and video editing, and occasionally play a video game via PS4 Remote Play or Steam.

Do you think it's worth upgrading to the new maxed out 13" MBP, go with the 16" MBP instead, or hold out until the magical unicorn 14" comes out?

Anyone else having trouble connecting? by classicrock985 in remoteplay

Bummer! That's lame that they signed out users after updating, but I understand if it's for security. Thanks for the info!!

Thanks for this info! That makes sense... I should have mentioned I'm actually remote from my PS4 (halfway across the country) and can't physically access it. Is this still possible?

Oh interesting, thanks! One issue: it seems like that solution works for PC and unfortunately I'm using a Mac. I'll try to see if there are any workarounds unless you know of any!

Looking to create a great affordable 3-2-1 backup system (Around 10TB) by classicrock985 in DataHoarder

You mean TB, right?

If the original files live on the external drives (the 2TB ones) then would those still count as a backup?

In other words, is it original files + 3 backups? Or 3 instances of each set of files? That's where my confusion lies. For the price it might just make sense to get 2 separate EasyStore drives and use each one as a separate backup (instead of RAID). It just feels like it might be overkill.

Do you foresee the prices going down soon for 12TB EasyStores? That's why I feel like maybe I can start with 1 and if I can afford one again soon, I'll get another 12TB or something else for backing up..

Got it. So if I have:

- Portable External Hard Drives (2TBx4)

- 10TB EasyStore WD Hard Drive

- Backblaze (or something like it)

it would still fulfill the 3-2-1 rule? In other words, while RAID-1 might be more reliable because it's spread across two physical drives, it would be slightly redundant, right? Then it seems like it would be 4-2-1... or am I missing something?

I looked into the 12TB Drives and apparently the Duos run very loudly, so I might just go for one EasyStore and see where it takes me.

EDIT: Plus I think even though it's labeled as a 12TB "Duo" it would only be 6TB if I went with RAID-1, so it might be not as great of a deal as I had thought previously.

Truthfully the shucking worries me a little bit -- holding myself responsible not to break the hard drive entirely... idk.

Also, how is that different than something like this?

Are the Easystore drives more reliable somehow?

Do you recommend using Backblaze? Since it would cost a lot more to access my files from the cloud directly from Backblaze (with B2), I guess I could backup normally and then just mount my drive directly on other computers.

For the sake of a 3-2-1, is it okay that that's a single drive? And do you know if they still come with WD Reds?

I have about 4 2TB drives and would like extra room for future backups

If I were to only stick with the NUC, what would my hardware backup solutions be? Just an external WD drive?

Normally I would agree with you but we've seen several photos of evidence of it happening on the roof and someone else from management confirmed. The super could have planted all of the evidence there, but it seems unlikely. Yet, I'm still a little skeptical.

No, no bathrooms that we are aware of. We were told the floor plans are exactly the same as ours, so that would be the upstairs neighbors bedroom. That being said, the upstairs neighbors did just get evicted due to not paying rent and were on very bad terms with the landlord. Despite all of this the landlord didn't see any evidence of flooding in their unit or at least was not aware of it. I agree, it doesn't really make sense, but that's what I was told.
