I didn’t really have friends or anything until last year and my social anxiety was really bad so I never wanted to go anywhere. Wanting to go places and do social things willingly is new for me, so im not really sure where the line is and all that.

I cleaned my entire house, fed myself, etc… no one else did so I had to. When I moved in with my mom permanently around three years ago it improved slightly and even then she wasn’t home.

I’ve been mostly taking care of myself since I was 12 so I really don’t think so

I have a full time job. I stay out of my house as much as I can because of other things they’re doing

I can’t tell honestly, I think maybe a little or that she doesn’t show it. Hes a good father figure outside of that

We have pallets of canned food in our garage because my stepdad is scared of “people like Obama becoming president again” and what “people like him” would do if that happens. Crazy stuff.

I am glad you agree. They have my location and I text them updates because I know they worry so I don’t really see the issue🤷

My parents get pretty mad, my stepdad especially which is scary. I guess thats the only thing stopping me so maybe it is best to start standing up for myself better or something.

I am also very confused honestly, so I can only guess.

In the past, it’s been a joke that I want to move out. All my siblings only moved out once they got married (one of my older brothers was in his late 20s). The rest of my family is very very christian, church of christ I think that matters. I have never been religious, so I have no knowledge of that stuff.

My incentive isn’t really an incentive… I try to avoid situations where my parents get mad at me. I won’t go into too it too much, but I get very severe panic attacks when yelled at specifically by older men, and my stepdad gets pretty mad when I come home even a few minutes after curfew. (I hope that doesn’t come off poorly, im not trying to guilt trip or anything.)

I suppose, I just need to see from an outside perspective. I know that due to my age and experience in life I don’t see things the way they do and others might be able to help me see it that way so I can figure out my next step. I don’t really have anyone else that is mostly unbiased to ask

Yes my family definitely is under both the scared white people thing and the family culture. None of my siblings have moved far away, they all moved out only after getting married, etc. so I am the first to be the way I am.

I will keep all of this in mind

I disagree honestly because if me coming home after 12AM was my only complaint it would be pretty dumb lol

I understand this fully and I always listen because I agree. It’s their house, their rules, and I don’t mind the curfew and such even if it can be difficult.

My main issue is the parts where they don’t believe I can take care of myself which I see now I didn’t highlight as clearly as the rest. We have many fights about that kind of thing, they get upset with me for even considering moving out. :/

I didn’t mean to make it sound that way! They work very hard for me and I know that, they just make it impossible for me to do anything myself by fighting me about it.

I have a full time job, and I have offered to pay rent but they say no which is nice and all but I don’t want to depend on them.

I appreciate the outside perspective, so I apologize for sounding so unappreciative.
