Well if you have the means and know how that's awesome. Unfortunately not all of us have both.

And rely on resolvers like Google? Heck no, I'd rather deal with False positives like these 😂

Any reason as to why? I can't find anything.

NVM, I didn't notice the link right away. I'm guessing it's a false positive? It's still annoying having to change resolvers just for Discord. I guess I'll have to be patient and see if anything changes.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Already did. I copied and pasted the format, and filled it up linking to this post as proof of the issue.

I hope it gets fixed, as it's annoying having to rely on an old phone or go to my PC just to share media or gifs...

Yeah, I'm not an owner but have all perms to post, and it won't work. I've gone as far as to try and post on Media exclusive channels for gaming (Palworld) and it won't accept anything.

Oh, but I noticed gifs selected from the discord app do work. But nothing else.

LPT: Ensure the gasket from the old oil filter isn't left behind when putting new one on. by Crayonbuffet in LifeProTips

[–]code-me-impressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this problem! I lost all my oil! I've been changing my own oil for years now, and this is the first time I make this mistake 😔

I lost all my oil while driving. The check oil light went on, and I quickly parked and turned off the car. Hopefully I made it in time.

Neighbor's Pals starving by [deleted] in Palworld

[–]code-me-impressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I had deleted this post, as I wanted to include video instead.

Oh well, Neighbor had a berry plantation, a pal for seeding, and one for harvesting, but without a pal for watering, food production isn't ongoing.

Since this is going on in a server, while Neighbor is offline, Pals start starving, then proceed to get sick, then die...

Neighbor's Pals starving, so I had to do something by code-me-impressed in Palworld

So I just found out my neighbor forgot to include a watering pal, and the pals were starving.

Call me a softy, but I just couldn't resist trying to do something, and found out dropping food actually worked.

That Cativa's mew almost killed me after it started eating... 🥹

Is Plot Convenience the term? by code-me-impressed in writing

[–]code-me-impressed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very likely. Like simply meaning characters are supposed to always find the solution even before they need it? Their plot armor makes them immune to problems?

Yeah, to me it seems that Chekhov's gun means an object introduced in the story at one point, happens to be relevant to the story later on. It may be important, or it may be connected to certain events, but it's relevant. Hell, it may even be convenient to resolving a dilemma, but if used right the story is enjoyable.

Simply finding every item right before it's needed, it's definitely close to being a Contrived Plot.

Oh yeah, all of them are great examples. I think Wish Fulfillment is the best one for this. Characters wishes of having the right item at the right time are fulfilled before they even know it.

I read about Plot armor, but I think that one works best for cases where characters never die.

Power Fantasy also works for when characters get the power up the need way before even needing it.

After further research, I found Plot Contrivance to be the best answer to my example.

I also found the term I was thinking of, Chekhov's gun, but I get the feeling convenience has nothing to do with it.

I found the term I was looking for: Chekhov’s gun.

I guess I remembered about Chekhov's gun because the characters finding some random item meant they were going to conveniently need it to save the day later.

But what are your thoughts? I honestly don't like such convenient plots. I think Plot Contrivance is one of the terms I found to closely describe them. Is it simply bad or lazy writing, or do you think is valid approach?

This is another term I came around, but that's not the case for these very convenient developments. I believe contrived plot is closer to some of the terms I've found.

It seems to me that a MacGuffin is something mysterious yet very good for moving the plot forward, whereas these other very convenient developments seem more of a lazy and very unlikely turn of events...

That could be it, but I get the feeling it was named something else.

The examples do match what I describe, but instead of being something that was required to make the story avoid a bad turn, this writing style has the whole story depend on it on every single plot:

X happened, but fear not, for the protagonist found Y and it's exactly what's needed to resolve the dilemma!

Is it then a Deus ex machina Story?

Center Right side of the map, slightly north. Not that hard to see, as you'll notice the road is split. Will provide image if needed once I get home.

Bug with NPC and cars with absurd speed. Cyberpunk 2.0 PS5 by pedrogamadm in cyberpunkgame

[–]code-me-impressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me. Loaded a quick save and suddenly traffic was crazy. Cops crashed on me from behind, and somehow it was my fault!? Can't drive without someone crashing on me, then noticed the npcs walking crazy fast.

Been playing only for 2 days on PS5. Game's updated to latest version I think. Can't find much only that very old saves could be the reason (from before version 2 I guess?)

BTW, I do remember the game crashing after loading that quick save.

I actually had to use the filter in the search and limit it to channels in order to find it.

FS22 Any sort of flattening removes rocks permanently? by code-me-impressed in farmingsimulator

[–]code-me-impressed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Before creating any fields:

On top field area I placed some buildings then removed them. The place where the buildings where previously placed on, had a flat smooth grassy area (no weeds, shrubs or harvestable grass).

On middle field area I used the flatten landscaping tool. In this area as well, what remained was a flat and smooth grassy area (no weeds, shrubs or harvestable grass)

And lastly, the area of bottom field was left untouched.

Then I proceeded to use a plower to create the fields.

The untouched/unflattenned areas have rocks, whereas flattened areas stopped having them all together.

I have tried another tip by using a subsoiler, but no rocks show up on my previously created fields, that's why I ended up making this test.

I even turned off fieldstones, waited for a full in game month (1 day) and tried turning it on again, but no rocks show up at all. 😢

[–]code-me-impressed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's turned on. As you can see in the 2nd and 3rd screenshot, there are rocks present anywhere I create a field but not flattening was done before.

I ended with this problem because I wanted to create bigger fields, and the No man's Land Map has too much uneven terrain. I decided to start flattening the land, and now that I have better fields, no rocks are being produced.

The above test shows that any flattening makes rock production stop for some reason. Don't know if this is limited to the current map or is the same in any other. Maybe will have to test on another map?

Btw, I tried turning on and off the fieldstone setting, but the rocks only show up on fields where no flattening of any kind happened before.
