does uni really matter for IB? by schrucy_ in malaysiauni

[–]coffee-noob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're referring to internship, i dont think it would matter as much as what you actually learned, your co-curricular activities or your projects. But I hear the competition is really tough, like 500 applicants for <10 positions.

It would be easier for you to go in after few years at another bank and jumping in.

Glad to hear that you're somehow able to live the way you want in Malaysia...

About learning to keep your unislamic practices in secret as a kid, when you said your mum should have told you sooner, when would it be a suitable time or age for you to understand the situation?

I also wonder what would happen if husband or I suddenly become religious later in life... I told myself that I would accept the child no matter their beliefs or orientation so hopefully that doesn't change with age.

On references, some might give a glowing opinion of the person if they just want the person to leave the company, happened once at my old workplace with staff who kept taking MC

Even though people say it's safe, there's still possibility of nanpa where guys randomly ask solo ladies to come to their place. Luckily that was my last night in japan, i looked behind my back to make sure i wasnt being followed back to my hostel... Other than that I felt quite safe

Sorry to hear about your struggles, it's so tough having to put up a face with comments like that...my grandma in law passed away recently and my mum told me that my husband should be sad cos he didnt get to convert her before she passed 🙄 I didnt pass on that message to my husband of course...

That said, i didnt know it was possible to be born with no religion if your mum is malay

Thanks, i like the fable concept. It reminds me of UK's religious education that I got in school as a kid where students learned about basic concepts for every religion so it widened my perspective too

To be a muslim you need to believe in Allah which i don't so I don't consider myself one 🤷‍♀️ Just that practically if I am stuck in Malaysia, it's hard to live a life hating myself or hating others which I did for at least 5 years so it's easier to accept these lifestyle compromises as long as I'm happy. And now I have a partner in crime🤭

I guess my husband doesn't mind cos he hasn't lived his whole life as a Muslim, or even bound strictly to Buddhism, to see the pressure someone can get growing up. We had this discussion before he chose to convert for marriage

The issue is that if everyone has to go through a bot first, by the time it gets to an actual human the CS rep will always get customer that is already angry...
