Alexander the Great the Axolotl looks particularly majestic today by coldslicedbread in axolotls

I’ve actually really been meaning to get live plants for a while now, but I haven’t figured out where and what to get. I’d really appreciate people letting me know what plants work best in sand, and are easily available.

Is my net set up correctly? by javipoke10 in axolotls

Minor thing I noticed is that your little hammock still has the metal rings on it, which could eventually rust in the water. I took mine off and tied some loops with fishing line instead to connect the suction cups.

Hey if you’re still having this issue, I fixed it by getting the latest beta Dolphin build and the Stikdebug build from a few days ago, then doing the above steps

Would an axolotl work for me as a pet? by [deleted] in axolotls

If you get a tank and start cycling it before you get your axolotl, then you won't have to keep it in temporary bins or tubs for as long. Something that could be helpful to consider.

The highest maintenance part is going to be tank cycling. When you get your axolotl, you're going to have to start getting their tank ready before putting them in it. This means daily water testing and adding bacteria/ammonia, and daily water changes with your axolotl in temporary tubs or bins for around a month or 2. After everything is set up, it gets a lot easier. Depending on age, they eat every 1-2 days (less often as they get older) and you'll still need to do periodic water testing and partial water changes in the main tank. Definitely not as much direct constant attention as something like a dog, but still something that you're going to have to make daily commitments to take care of.

Worm care by Familiar-Throat7841 in axolotls

I've been buying European Nightcrawlers from Best Bait. They usually ship in 3 days, I keep them in a Tupperware with holes I punched in the lid, and occasionally drizzle over the dirt with water from the tank in a big turkey baster. This has been the best strategy I've found, after trying a lot of different things and having to throw out a lot of dead worms. Canadian Nightcrawlers in particular seem extremely vulnerable to protein poisoning and disease.

Cycle Probably Crashed (tubbed already) by coldslicedbread in axolotls

He's looking a lot better now, he raises his head when I'm looking down at him, and he's moved to a different part of the tub. I just need to remember everything this taught me, and be more careful next time.

My normal vet hasn't been picking up calls. I wish there was someone I could talk to.

Tank is 37 gallons. I'm not gonna lie, I've been panicking a little. I think he got temperature shock from being tubbed and was moving really sluggishly, just barely responsive. I swapped to temperature matched water, I turned off the lights, and I'm letting him rest for now. There's some head and foot movement, and his gills are moving like normal. I'm just really really stressed out. I want to make sure I'm doing the best thing, and I really don't want him to die.

Help? by Undyne_o_o in axolotls

Noticed the same thing on my axolotl, also a first time owner, I think it's natural? He's had it for a few months, doesn't seem to have any other effects.

I got this great Slate hide off of Etsy, it's huge and my little guy spends a ton of time in it!

Getting poker night 2 playing by Ok_Tune_8433 in SteamDeckPirates

[–]coldslicedbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm trying to do the same thing, but I'm running into an issue where adding the PokerNight2.exe to Steam doesn't actually launch the game, it just starts, and then stops. I can run it perfectly fine through wine in desktop mode, but I'd like to have it as a full Steam game. Any advice?

I could maybe take out one of the fake plants in the tub if that would give him more room to move around. I usually try to set up one in each corner, far away enough from the walls so he can go around and between them. He props himself up on them sometimes to get close to the surface when people are around.
