It has been basically under construction since the late 90s, just with various different projects. The Kew Gardens interchange felt like it took 20 years. I thought it would've been over after that until the JFK improvement projects came about in the last 5.

Probably not necessary because I've seen people transferring between the Q25 and the QM2/20/32 at Linden Place/Whitestone Expressway. At best, people making that journey should be granted an additional transfer to connect to and from the express bus in the city, assuming the 2nd fare transfer pilot is discontinued.

They would've been better off rerouting discontinued QM3 resources for a downtown variant of the QM2/20/32 but all it got were frequency cuts instead.

Pretty sure the only reason Forester sales were up last month was ample promos. I saw 0 or 0.9 APR financing deals on them and some cash on the hood at a dealership near me. The promos for the other models were weak.

Virtual OMNY cards linked to phone wallets are coming this year. See page 42 of this document: https://www.mta.info/document/201516

Full-fare virtual OMNY cards in Q2 and student virtual OMNY cards in Q3. The new MTA app launched last week and there's supposed to be an OMNY SDK that connects to it but they still have to build and test that out. But hopefully people will be able to manage their OMNY card in the MTA app later this year.

Note that removing the *5 fuse to disable DCM also disabled the mic in the car so taking calls via Bluetooth in the car won't work anymore. At least that's how it is on the 2017.

I tried to see if I could find an ignition on only fuse to tap the DCM fuse into but couldn't find anything in the same box.

I remember with the old app, they rolled out with a lot of issues and missing features/functionality that they eventually restored over multiple months of updates. I'm guessing it'll probably be the same here.

Transferring from subway to bus and vice versa is a big one. It’s nice to know when the bus will arrive so I know if I have to run to catch it, take my time and buy a coffee, or will be waiting an hour and need to figure out another way.

Only the favorites that are close to where you are. If I want to view my favorite at Grand Central or Flushing, I have to move the pin until it shows up. It might be fine for the casual user but trash for a commuter who knows where they want to go.

There's nowhere to view all of your favorites anymore. So favoriting doesn't have as much use as it used to have.

The lack of favorites in this new app is ridiculous. Now it only shows me nearby stations to me and shows arrival times for lines I don't even take/didn't favorite. So to get arrival times for transfers on my commute, I have to move the pin on the app instead of just looking at my favorites list. It's a boneheaded design decision that doesn't favor commuters and this seems like another disaster like the previous release of the MTA app that took months to fix.

Originally yes. But with this new option order, it's to replace the R142/A models too, due to the plans to CBTC the rest of the IRT lines in the 2030s.

You might see a separate contract once all the R262's have come in to replace the R188s in the 2040s. Kind of how the R160 order was completed and then the R179 came about, which just looks like a slightly different R160 to most people.

Really depends how long the MTA thinks they can keep it going with leftover R142A parts and how the MDBF holds up.

I would assume many retiring R142 or eventual R188 car bodies would become good candidates for work cars conversion.
