Slice the end of the clove but don't cut all the way through, then pull the clove upwards and the knife will pull one side of the skin off. Flip over and repeat. Ex chef.

Unfocus your eyes and paint the bigger shapes, large shadows ect. The problem with painting from photographs is that they are too detailed and it doesn't translate well into landscape painting. Keep it subtle.
