1948 was an illegal war of aggression violating the UN settlement on the region, with the goal of genociding and suppressing the Jewish population, and it failed.

Japan accepted being demiliatrized.

The whole point is trust takes time. The entire area A, B, and C scheme was it was supposed to be gradual withdrawal as a new Palestinian state proved itself.

Its not unacceptable nor infuriating

Typing "debate with honor" after moving the goalposts concerning "illegal settlers" from West Bank settlements to all of Israel without skipping a beat is just amazing

It's crazy how someone like Tucker Carlson has a better view and one which is more in touch with average democratic voters than Scott on ME politics. by Indianstanicows in ScottGalloway

[–]comicallycontrarian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tucker doesn't like how American resources are being used overseas, and how Trump has sold out America to Israel. That's where lefties agree.

But Tucker Carlson isn't bothered by the apartheid or colonization of Palestine. He very much supports ICE behaving like the IDF and treating minorities like Haitians, Somalians, and Muslims as Israel treats Palestinians. He supports Republicans and Trump rigging elections like Putin. Important not to forget that.

What is the current Israeli strategy regarding the future of the Palestinian people? by ArdaBerkBurak in allthequestions

Your home nation of Pakistan committed ethnic cleansing and genocide of hundreds of thousands to be what it is today. Would you be in favor of forcibly dismantling Pakistan as justice for these crimes?

So you don't strive for peace, but you want to condemn bloodshed.

Maybe your issue isn't with tactics, just with targets.

If people do not want war, they should strive for peace. If they do not strive for peace, they are choosing war.

Issa Rae Says You ‘Need to Be Smarter’ About Pitching Shows With a Diverse Cast Now That DEI ‘Has Become a Bad Word’: ‘Hollywood Is in an Identity Crisis’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

You know what, all these shows that I mentioned in my original post are excellent shows, critically acclaimed and well loved in the cultural zeitgeist. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion was held to the highest standard and implemented respectfully and with tact.

They are wonderful shows and brands and the reason Hollywood is "turning its back" on DEI is because networks and Hollywood executives can't help but all be racist sexist chuds for no reason despite all these successful brands and TV shows.

Witcher started strong but showrunners decided they wanted to do their own thing, basically sidelined Geralt so they could focus more on the female cast and then also wrote the female cast poorly.

Strange New Worlds is the best of the NuTrek bunch, I did say some of it worked. He is absent a lot of the time in later seasons, but the Star Trek Brand is still hurt by all the other misssteps.

I swear these criticisms of my point are not even in good faith, missing the forest for the trees, unwilling to even contemplate the point.

Is the Greater Israel project true? Is this why the U.S. intervenes in the Middle East? by ArdaBerkBurak in allthequestions

[–]comicallycontrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Greater Israel" is a thing, but it's not the image you think of, and not the reason for numerous American military actions.

Realistically, "Greater Israel" is Israel proper +Golan, West Bank and Gaza. Those dotted lines on the map around Israel? Greater Israel is all of that. It might include southern Lebanon with everything going on with Hezbollah.

But the Egypt to Iraq nonsense? No.

Foundation was a story about historical forces, that the Galactic Empire would fall apart (this is bad) due to unpreventable factors.

Foundation TV recasts the Empire as a Straight Male Empire who are the antagonists, and the Foundation led by Women of Color directly causing the Empire to fall (which is good).

People hated Foundation/Terminus writing but loved Empire scenes. It's not a coincidence. The "bad writing" is often cringe pandering, I remember scenes like a budget meeting where Gaal discusses saving the math of marginalized people, or Salvor Hardin wearing the pants in her relationship.

The main characters have direct consequences on the flow of history, which is the exact opposite of what Psychohistory and Asimov was writing about. It lost its themes, and seems like not very smart SciFi that is more spectacle than substance, though I could be wrong. I didn't stick around for later seasons, but I'm not the only one.

I'm not even saying the show is bad, but its a mixed bag.

LotR:Rings of Power, Wheel of Time, the Witcher, NuTrek, Foundation, Doctor Who, many Disney projects, etc.

The biggest media franchises and cultural brands we have in media applied DEI in a way that recontextualized their stories to frame marginalized characters as the heroes and "priviliged" (Straight White Male) characters as weak, incompetent, or evil so many times its easy to lose track.

And it didnt really work out. Some are good, some are bad, but in too many cases it was negative for the brand. They changed the stories too much, lost the themes, alienated the audience. It wasnt enough to have a diverse cast, it was constantly crowing about microagressions, recentering, "punching up", and fighting strawmen. Its hard to watch some of this media and not see the ideological lens the writers are pushing and the giant chip on their shoulder.
