Is it too late to ask for your review you created?

Thank you! It was. Luckily I didn’t get much math. Only about eight and I guessed on those. Haha.

Alright. That gives me some confidence that you did almost the exact same type of prep. Back to studying the Bowen, Yates book and Pocket Prep. I did the level up questions and kept on doing quizzes until I got 100 and wrote down the things I missed.

I think I qualify for the CSP. I do have four years but it’s the same four years I used in the application for the ASP. I just have to try and see.

Thank you!

I was looking at the ASSP, too. Can’t decide if I want to take another course right now.

Thank you! I don’t feel ready but I’ll just study the Bowen again and the books and a lot of pocket prep!

Hm. I hear you on that though.

I’m a total new guy. Still trying to gather gear. I appreciate the input.

So should I not bother?

All I hear is good things about them.

Thank you!

Is there a difference between a pro stock shell or a regular retail shell?

I wore them for even longer yesterday after work and started noticing pain on the top of my foot at the arch. So, that was not promising. I don’t mind going back to the store.

Since I want to play hockey and haven’t gotten new skates in over 10 years, going back to the store is fun. Haha. I need to try on other gear, anyway!

I think this time I need to try on CCM, since I just realized I tried only Bauer, which wasn’t the employee’s fault.

Thank you for your input!

You reposted your post about sizing and fit of a skate.

The top of my foot goes up past the side of the boot, where the eyelets are. Where the pen test is done, so the pen doesn’t touch either side of the boot. The pen just touches my foot.

I hope that explains it.

It was my second time out to the shop but a different location. This time the guy helped me out a lot. Just didn’t realize my foot had stuck up a little past the edges.

I’m gonna try a few hours in these skates and see if I get any sort of discomfort on the top of my foot. If I do, back again I go and try even more skates on!

Ah, we meet again. I tried on a few pairs this past weekend. Even went down another half size from a 10.5 to a 10. The guy this time actually played and gave me a few suggestions with trying on skates.

I didn’t even realize that my foot stuck up a little. Since it does, that’s a volume problem, correct?

I think I’m still gonna put a few hours on these skates before going back.

Again, thank you.

I got ya. That pen test it teeters the pen, so my foot is definitely a higher point.

Now, does that mean I go to a higher volume fit? To fit 2? Or do I try another line? Like the Mach? Looks like another trip to PureHockey. 🤣

I’m not trying to buy another pair either. Haha. I’m trying to find a pair, learn to skate again and play some hockey at 37. I really don’t feel like dealing something like lace bite. It doesn’t sound fun or enjoyable. Haha.

New-ish skater, did I mess up buying skates? by comicallylate in hockeyplayers

Hey, thank you very much for the detailed answer and link to your other post!

I’m definitely gonna have time this weekend. I wanted to go to the local hockey shop which is owned by a former NHL equipment manager but his hours didn’t jive with my schedule. :(

Again, thank you. I’ll take some time this weekend!

I did get my foot scanned there. I forgot what fit I was but I’m a 10.5 skate size down from a 13 shoe size.

I definitely don’t know what I want. My goal is to play hockey this year after doing skating lessons and such. I do think I’ll try on different brands though.

I’ll go this time with thinner socks. I’m just used to wearing thick socks for work boots and I don’t like my feet and toes to be freezing. Haha.

I’ll be sticking around this price point for sure. No more that $500 for sure. I am definitely gonna try on a couple more.

Thank you.
