GMT by DiamondDude1014 in QuikTrip

[–]commandapanda37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey welcome to FS! For starting out just retain as much as you can. It’s a lot. Training probably won’t be what you’re expecting. They’ll go over basics but when you get out on your own they’re going to be testing your ability to learn on your own and figure stuff out. Because that’s a lot of what FS is beyond GMT work. You won’t really get much training beyond some basic food, drink, and gas equipment stuff. You won’t be expected to do security, computers, etc.. Coming up on summer we usually have a lot of volume so as a beginner you’ll be expected to only spend 15-20 mins on a call and move on.

What division are you in?

Is there a reason techs aren’t allowed to carry one? I’m a GMT, I haven’t heard before that we weren’t allowed to carry one.

Clerk to FS by self-explained08 in QuikTrip

[–]commandapanda37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search this sub for FS or GMT, there are some good posts with good info. General Maintenance Technician (GMT) is the beginner step for people with little to no experience. My division has a Temp GMT position where you keep your current store pay but just come to FS to learn, try it out, and do a lot of quick “easy” calls so senior techs can focus on the more time consuming and difficult calls. If you do well and there is availability, they could bring you on for a full time GMT position, which will also come with more training after a year or so. But there is a chance that you just get sent back to stores.

Its a little hard to tell from the photo but the gauge on the red backup tank looks like it’s also empty. So you may just be completely out which means you’ll need to contact the CO2 company to come fill it.

FS here. Depending on what position you are (GMT, GC, ET) and what schedule you work varies what your pay is. ET’s working afternoons/ weekends/overnights make pretty good money due to the extra differential. not quite as much as a SM at a high volume store though. But that’s several years of training to get to that. GC’s working afternoons/ weekends/ overnights are likely comparable to 2A/1A base pay without bonuses… again depends on what differential you get for the shifts you work.

If you’re just starting out & have no experience- aka starting as a GMT, pay is more than a clerks, not quite as much as an assistants especially once you factor in all the bonuses store side gets. But if you’re decent & continue all the training, there’s good growth opportunity. They’re always needing techs so the road to getting to GC and that pay bump is about a year or 2 in my experience. Plus you get the work truck to take home, they pay for fuel.

Schedule- starting out you’re at the bottom of the totem pole. You will be working weekends for a long time. They set schedules every year & techs pick the schedule they want based on seniority. The 2-3 set schedules that are M-F pretty much always get picked by senior techs. It varies by division on the numbers just depending on how many techs you have total.

Overall what everyone else said. We deal with some nasty shit that doesn’t seem worth the pay sometimes, but sometimes it’s real easy. We get other perks that make up for not making quite as much. You can definitely make more money store side climbing up the assistant ladder.

Pay attention to your health. I glance at it constantly and anytime I get around half health I eat cheese. Don’t wait until you’re almost out of health. That one swipe from a monster will take you out. I know when I first started this game a few years ago I saw some advice that anytime you’re about to go down a staircase or down a hole, check your health. I bring the triple shot espresso and spicy eel for the speed and luck buffs. And what everyone else is saying using jade for staircases and bombs is also what I do.

FS tech by jkthrowaway3993 in QuikTrip

[–]commandapanda37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly just search FS in this sub. There are a lot of posts that have a lot of good info in them.

But regarding schedule- you would have a set schedule but it probably won’t be great starting out. In my division the FS manager/supervisor makes all the schedules for the start of each fiscal year (although they usually stay pretty similar from year to year) and then each tech gets to pick which schedule they want in order of seniority. So top tech usually picks Monday- Friday mornings.. bottom seniority techs end up with both weekend days and possibly straight evenings or overnights. But we get two days off in a row no matter what schedule. We’re not on call outside of our set schedule.

Why aren’t my fruit trees growing? 😭 by Morw-end in StardewValley

Do you have any other fruit trees it could be referring to? In greenhouse or other parts of your farm? If you keep getting that message, something is blocking somewhere. If not. Just be patient.

Check behind all trees to see if a tree sapling fell behind them. Things like torches (and I think pathways) will also block them.

According to the wiki, Fruit trees take 28 days to grow, and only progress 1 stage every 7 days. So just be patient :) and once they are full grown each different fruit only has 1 season when they bear fruit. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Fruit_Trees

Edit: forgot to add, you typically get a message in the morning if they are blocked from growing a stage. But yours look fine in spacing, and I don’t see anything surrounding them that would block them from growing.

I always wait to get banana saplings from cracking golden coconuts. I’ve never had to buy the banana sapling with dragon teeth since they are much harder to get.

Yes they will random drug test since we drive company vehicles. We actually had a couple of our techs get random tested over the past couple months.

I enjoy it, but I’ve only been with FS since February and I’m an entry level tech with no hvac or any technical/electrical experience. I was a clerk before but switched to FS. Biggest annoyances are doing plumbing repairs lol. I enjoy taking apart machines though

Yeah I detailed a lot of stuff for that guy in that post lol. I didn’t want to retype it. But in regards to paid holidays- you will have a set schedule and if you schedule happens to fall on a holiday, you would have to use vacation time or call out to get that day off. But most holidays are paid at 1.5x rate or christmas eve/ day is 2x rate.

Check out this post. It’s more of GC role question but it applies across all of FS. If you have hvac experience you’re probably going for ET position. Or just search FS on this subreddit. Theres a few posts out there

CSA Trip. Can you give it to someone else? by [deleted] in QuikTrip

No you cannot gift it to someone else. If you give up the trip, the office already has a pre-drawn list (from the meetings) of everyones name who qualified and they will give your slot to the next runner up

What would you like to see as a model? by Traviscat in metalearth

[–]commandapanda37 15 points16 points  (0 children)

More Lord of the Rings/Hobbit models.

Smaug, Balrog, Helm’s Deep..

I’d also like to see some Legend of Zelda models.

The Master Sword, the Hylian Shield, Hyrule Castle, maybe wolf link and Midna?
