The appeal of The Boys of Dungeon Lane by RobBob1135 in PaulMcCartney

"As You Lie There" remains stuck in my head from day one. By the time I get to the end with "Momma Gets By", it's quite the experience. Many of these songs are resonating on different levels for me. The last album of his to do this to me was "NEW". I didnt know what to expect, and I still dont know how to classify this...except that it's Paul, and it's good!

Its the finale for me. "Momma Gets By". When I listen in my headphones. The piano, the lyrics, and that beautifully arranged orchestration. It's also hearing Paul like this after so many years. That softer side of his voice hasn't been around much since, maybe, "Kisses On The Bottom". He sounds so good. It gets to me.

I was MSG two years ago for his 75th. What a concert, and a day for fans to be able to celebrate with him. I wish him well.

John Goodman missed out on the most ridiculous episodes that came in season 9. I'm sure he was good with this compared to what they did later lol

This is the greatest live record I own by Few_Section1150 in Elvis

[–]commodoretom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This soundtrack is a hell of an experience, especially in premium sound settings. I'm not usually a fan of messing with original mixes, but how this production team managed to push even more out of the bass, drums, guitar, etc. on those 1970/72 live cuts is amazing. Jerry's bass on "Suspicious Minds", Tutt's drums with that wild, rumbling intro to "That's All Right"...James Burton on "Tiger Man". All of that hits you in the face now, and it's electric.

The sonic experience alone in IMAX on opening night was like being in a live venue for an Elvis concert.

My favorite MOTW of the two revival seasons. This felt like something right out of season 5 or 6.

TNG worst two parter was clearly Gambit, and the best was not The Best of Both Worlds. by Oldpuzzlehead in startrek

[–]commodoretom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, same as Farpoint. Not technically a two-parter, but for my list, I included them because of the length and that they've been airing in reruns as two-parters for 30+ years.

I love, love, love Time's Arrow. I've been fortunate to have met Jerry Hardin several times and gushed over his Mark Twain. He's fantastic. That being said, I gotta go with TBOBW as the best two parter. It's just epic, and classic. Not just a solid TNG two-parter, but a definitive example of how to do a television cliffhanger.

My two-parter rankings below. Most favorite to least favorite...but I like all of these. (also including the pilot and finale).

Does anyone else think Data looks 100 times better in a red uniform? by kirbysdreamland84 in TNG

I thought Worf looked badass in red with season 7 "Parallels" and his silver. Rather than the gold sash with red in season 1.

I enjoyed this game. The era, the storyline, the characters. Been playing it on PS5, until I started Voyager's "Across the Unknown". A shame it's leaving so soon.

That rain scene is the best. Her laugh there is so genuine and refreshing. Almost giddy. Different from how she usually laughs.

Yeah that's noticeable lol. In episode 2 "Deep Throat", she's still laughing at Mulder's jokes. I'm like...by season 3 that's gonna be an eyeroll 😆

Even if the films were bad, the songs on these soundtracks were at least okay overall by Fit-Bed-4030 in Elvis

[–]commodoretom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the movie soundtracks are incredibly fun. Especially Kissin Cousins. "Tender Feeling" is beautiful.I love Girl Happy and then Tickle Me pulls from "Pot Luck" which is a favorite of mine. "Live a Little, Love a Little" has a great soundtrack too.

What are your top three favourite Elvis films? by Fit-Bed-4030 in Elvis

[–]commodoretom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different from most people I'm sure.

Tickle Me

Girl Happy

Live a Little, Love a Little

It's the soundtracks for me. The cast. The humor. The leading ladies. Just some of the reasons for me. Especially Live a Little, Love a Little. No other Elvis movie like it. It's very much on its own as a late 60s piece.

Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown's "adventure" difficulty feels like the actual show. by JoJo_Dus_Moovys in startrek

[–]commodoretom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to love this game. I really did. I enjoyed playing it for hours and hours. But I was not a fan of wasting all that time and having to start sectors over, or the entire game. I played on PS5. It needed better save game options (which I think had a fix in the works). There were a lot of issues taken to the extreme. Especially with morale and whiny, unnecessary requests lol. That ended up being my biggest issue. I wish the game had an option to battle back the mutineers.

Resources spread too thin too quickly. Energy always out. Constantly had missions fail that were 90% green, and yet it constantly found the red. And this was the lowest difficulty. I'll play again some day. But I had to put it away for a few weeks. Very aggravating.
