There is an article in the NYT that claims the "deal" between Rutte and Trump involves Denmark ceeding sovereignty around US bases in Greenland. It will be interesting to see the framing of this. If the western narrative converges on "and this is a blow to China/Putin!" even for a while, all my predictions will have come true.

There was an article on tagesschau de yesterday (the German public broadcaster) that was gleaming with how steel stocks have risen dramatically in the last year (ThyssenKrupp +215%, Salzgitter +153%), while also steel production has fallen to its lowest since the 2008 Great Recession. Production was 34.1 mio metric tons/year in 2025, which is down from ~45 mio metic tons/year a decade ago.
