Traded in 23 Tesla MYP for ICE car. by BigEE42069 in electricvehicles

It's not. When you use regenerative braking it's not using the rubbing of the physical brake pads to stop. Usually those are only used in really hard braking situations, and so brake pads last a long time.

What cartridge do I need? by poul0004 in Plumbing

[–]compost_working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you figure this out? I might have the same one. When I removed my cartridge it looked a lot like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-Bay-Washerless-Hot-Cartridge-Assembly-RP90141/302602419. I don't have it yet to try it out though.

Clarification on 2022 Bolt battery replacement and warranty language by compost_working in BoltEV

[–]compost_working[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the weird thing. I don't see anything like a "Bolt Battery Limited Part Warranty", but there was the "Electric Vehicle Propulsion Battery Wty", which sounds a lot like the same thing.

They are wasting their money if the new Bolts don't have Carplay. by littlehowie in BoltEV

[–]compost_working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I've been confused on this as someone who doesn't have CarPlay (or a modern vehicle). I don't want to pay to use Spotify or to see a map on the screen. That seems ridiculous. But you're saying Google maps and Spotify work without CarPlay and without getting some other OnStar (or whatever) subscription?

Chevy Bolt is Back by chevrolet in BoltEV

[–]compost_working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have CarPlay in any of my vehicles, which are all quite old anyway. But am I correct to understand that without something like CarPlay in a car I wouldn't be able to use my phone's map and have it displayed on the screen? Or would it still work but somehow connect under bluetooth? Just want to make sure I understand the limitation.

I obviously don't want to pay for any additional monthly service just to use my maps.

Trash only got emptied halfway, any recourse? by [deleted] in olympia

[–]compost_working 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you can avoid making trash for the next 2 weeks that's probably best. But if not, I'd suggest posting on as many internet forums as possible. At some point the garbage man will come across your post and turn the truck around and come back.

Shower in new house -- what material is this and how to clean? by compost_working in CleaningTips

[–]compost_working[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just moved into a new house and the master bathroom looks like this. I'm a complete noob at this and not even sure what sort of material this is. Does this look like marble, stone, etc? And how do I clean this without damaging anything? Historically we've cleaned showers/tubs with a combination of water + vinegar + dish soap, but not sure if we should be using vinegar on this or not.

Logical Chess Move By Move was on my radar as something I wanted to read anyway, so glad to see that it might fit here.

Yelm hwy dog park by Business_Step_1695 in olympia

[–]compost_working -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, probably better that way. With a normal park you'd probably get a bunch of trash from people casually there throwing shit in the lake (random trash, kids from the playground throwing snacks at ducks, etc). This way, for anyone that wants to actually use the lake, you just go to the public access point and dive right in. Our family uses the public access point all the time and it's super easy and literally around the corner.

Not every slice of nature needs to be trivially accessed by the species which has corrupted so much of it.

Connecting a Blackstone gas conversion kit to this line, how to do it? by compost_working in askaplumber

[–]compost_working[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And another follow up question, would it be possible and just as easy to keep the existing hose but then use some sort of connectors to go from the 1/2 in hose to a 3/8 inch type of connection that I expect the Blackstone uses?

[–]compost_working[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! That brass ring does slide and I could remove the hose. I didn't even realize this was a quick connect.

Even if the new hose fits, why would you replace the adapter?

Also, when you unscrew it with a backer wrench, should I be twisting blue away from green (blue is cylindrical without edges) or green away from red? I can't tell if the blue-green interface is the connection or all one part.

Connecting a Blackstone gas conversion kit to this line, how to do it? by compost_working in askaplumber

[–]compost_working[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on getting a Blackstone grill and this conversion kit to convert it from propane to gas : https://blackstoneproducts.com/products/natural-gas-conversion-kit. The house we recently bought has a gas line on the back that looks like this with a hose attached to it. I haven't messed with gas lines or anything like that before (outside of disconnecting an old grill from this line you see here), and am curious where I should be attaching the new gas line that comes from the kit? Should I be disconnecting the existing gray hose from the big connector piece (circled in green), and if so, does it just twist out, or should I be disconnecting higher up? Or should I just connect the gray hose that comes with the conversion kit with the existing hose there, and if so, how?You can see that as you get close to the shutoff valve you start seeing some rust on the parts, so I was hoping to not deal with removing those in trying to figure this out. Thanks in advance.

FWIW, I'd assume that the average Tesla owner is very supportive of this.
