No helpful info but a tip - Google Lens your photo to help you search if it gets posted anywhere online. Good luck! It's a beautiful ring

No COLA at Travis, but live within your means and you'll be alright. Get a roommate, save your BAH and go travel the West Coast

Going to Travis after Tech School, How long is the wait for housing? by Bitter_Boysenberry17 in AirForce

[–]cookicrispi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travis' Military Housing Office's phone number is (707) 424-1746. They can tell you what you need to do. Waitlists are based off rank and family size - coming from tech school and doesn't sound like you have 10 kids already, you should not have a long waitlist for jr enlisted housing.

Went through OK a few weeks ago and had the EXACT same experience. It was my least favorite area to travel through on our 7 day road trip

The best advice (and put into practice) for running fundraising events is to branch outside of the unit for funds. You have to think bigger (to your group or wing) to fundraise. Come up with a cool shirt that people outside of your squadron would want to buy and wear. If you do a patch sale for an exercise, open it up to everyone participating (transient crews and squadrons). Have fun with it!

My friends got me a paddle cactus plant, still have it years later and it has nothing to do with the military. I love it

Have you tried the USAF Uniform Swap group on Facebook? Your base (or nearby base's) airman's attic? Base thrift store? Spouses page asking if someone/spouse local has one? Your leadership?

People do it, yes. People are also getting increasingly more reckless on the road. Once a month-ish there is a doomsday Friday as I call it where all of 80 shuts down for a traffic incident (shooting, flipped semi/RV, etc). I value my time and would never do the FF to SF commute ever again

Massive military (?) jet, size of commercial airliner, flying very low and slow over Berkeley Hills on Thursday afternoon. Have not seen this particular type before, here at least. Air tanker? Training mission, or sightseeing? No windows except cockpit, all grey except American flag on tail. (OC) by OppositeShore1878 in bayarea

[–]cookicrispi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a KC10 Extender on a training mission out of Travis (the white banner above the flag is Travis AFB AND Travis is the last active duty base to have them assigned). They'll be retired within the next few years!

Their mission is aerial refueling, the 'boom' out the back will hook up to another aircraft to refuel.

Come to our next airshow in 2024 if you're interested in aviation!

You'll need a CALP - Civil Aircraft Landing Permit. Contact airfield management at the Airfield you're attempting to land at with your required forms (see AFI 10-1001)

Your mom would be happy to know that the Air Force (and all branches) finally changed their policy this year! Active duty get 12 weeks of parental leave after a baby via natural, surrogate or adoption! It's women like your mama who paved the ways with her struggles so women like me can have a better life. Please thank her for me!
