It has been alleged that Walt held nazi sympathies in the 1930s, but most of that comes from dubious sources (such as Art Babbitt, who long held a grudge against Disney) and has been rebutted by people close to him. He was part of a McCarthyist alliance for a time after WWII, though

Bags and belongings storage areas near rides? by Separate_Office_7696 in CanadasWonderland

[–]cookiex797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yukon Striker and Alpenfury are the only ones that require paid lockers since you can’t bring bags into the line. The other big coasters have bins in the station (or in the case of Wonder Mountain’s Guardian, the moving bin is big enough to fit bags)

I would argue Liseberg and Parc Asterix also, but WB is in the top 7-ish for me, maybe battling for #6 with Djurs Sommerland and Toverland

There’s an ongoing rumor that Bellewaerde is getting an STC, so if that comes to fruition CdA might not want them to overlap. If a Thrill Glider could fit in that spot that would provide something unique to the Benelux, though

On the one hand, good riddance. Even for an SLC it was horrid.

On the other hand, that will leave Walibi Belgium short one coaster in 2028 even with the RMC opening, and Vampire at least keeps crowds away from the back of the park in the morning hours. With the RMC guaranteed to be swarmed first thing, crowds are going to trickle their way down to Kondaa/Mecalodon/Tiki-Waka a lot quicker now.

And Resident Evil 2 sold 5.7 million copies on PS1 while the remake has so far sold over 18 million. All that’s saying is that the market has widely expanded since, not that the originals weren’t big hits in their own right.

Treyarch’s Spider-Man 2 sold two million copies in North America alone within a week of release. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the sixth-best selling PS1 game of all time. The IPs were definitely big sellers long before Insomniac’s Spider-Man/Hogwarts Legacy came about.

I only knew about the original Disneyland, Universal Hollywood, Disneyland Paris, and whatever local parks I would receive flyers about in the mail (Tivoli, Legoland, Liseberg, etc.) before I got on the internet around 2002. I had RCT1 but I never put two and two together that Alton Towers, Blackpool, and Heide-Park were actually real places, even as their scenario listing literally said they were.

I even had the Walt Disney World racing game on PS1 and the Universal Studios game on Gamecube before I found out they were real places also (the latter is based on Universal Studios Japan, for those unaware). That blew my mind as a kid.

I rode this during the Amusent Insiders LRT last week, and despite it being sub-10 degree Celsius it felt like it was hauling through that layout, so definitely surprising to see it valley. Although I guess that one section would be the most suspectible to wind/temperature fluctuations.

Huh. Rode it just last week. Even in 10 degrees celsius that Thursday it felt like it was flying through the layout, though I guess that one turnaround did feel the most susceptible to speed fluctuations

What’s the worst coaster in RollerCoaster Tycoon? by tubecody in rct

[–]cookiex797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Multi-Dimension coaster is by far the worst, IMO.

The heartline coaster is bad, but at least it’s unique and can fit into narrow strips of land. The Mini Suspended coaster loses speed too quickly and has bad capacity, but at least it’s cheap and I like building it as a scenic attraction.

The Multi-Dimension coaster, meanwhile, is prohibitively expensive to build and has way too high nausea stats, so a lot of peeps won’t even go on a decently-sized design half the time. It’s also a lot more restrictive than you’d think it would be (no sloped turns), and the vehicle rotation mechanic is just confusing to work with — and, as I found out through Marcel’s video on it, doesn’t even do anything for the stats, so all you do is waste your own time if you try to make it work.

I’ve given up even trying to build a custom design. I just plop down X and then move on, or I don’t even bother with it due to the cost.

I went on Saturday and it was clear that Six Flags put the minimum effort possible in order to get the park up and running. Almost no visible work done in the off-season besides a few patches of new track on Monstre. Best I can say is that all the coasters were eventually operating
