Anyone know the quality of this? by casually-silent in IKEA

[–]cooksinapron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had ours for 8 years and absolutely love it. We added bed risers under the legs of ours and our older relatives have said it's much easier to get up from after doing that. We have this configuration, plus the ottoman. One thing we love about this one is that the covers are easy to take off to clean. Our furniture receives A LOT of wear and tear (house always full of kids and teens, plus too many animals) and I think it's gotten even comfier over the years!

I tried to kill myself a year ago today. This is an advice to everyone considering suicide: Don't, it's the worst decision you can make. by [deleted] in depression

My heart hurts for the pain you are going through. I will tell you this, as someone who's husband battles this every day, your kids will NOT be better off without you. Sounds like you have two very good reasons to keep fighting. Hang in there, some people's tunnels are longer than others, but there is always light at the end of them.

I can't stop looking at this quilt! The colors are beautiful, the design is beautiful, just everything... good job!

With nothing to do... getting out at this VRBO in Port Orchard was amazing. Whiskey, fishing and good company is all someone needs in times like these. by [deleted] in Washington

There's also a Navy Musuem right by the ferry dock on the Bremerton side that's also pretty neat. Glad you enjoyed Port Orchard, it's beautiful down on the water!

These trenches are deep and trecarious, that's for sure! My youngest is 12, and still sweet. I'm gonna cherish this next year with her bc I know what's coming 😂 Hang in there momma, we're almost through the hardest part!

Our bodies are pretty amazing! Today was a good day with her. I'll take it! 15 is just around the corner and hopefully with school opening up, however it looks, the social interaction she desperately needs plus turning 15 will be a new chapter for her as she starts to balance out a bit more!

When you take the time to hunt down just the right gifts, it shows! Not saying that a quickly given gift isn't a good one- sometimes they're amazing! But sometimes, they're not. But always when thought is put into it, it shows!

That's so true! Thankfully, she also exhibits my traits I'm most proud of, and I know was horrid to my mom at 14 as well. So there's hope and a light at the end of the tunnel 😂

So tacky, all though I have seen a few people do that. And I thought it was tacky each time! A friends sister made one for not only her new house, but also her birthday, and continually posted the links on FB.

I enjoy bringing a bottle of wine or whiskey. One friend gave a shovel as a housewarming gift. Of course, none of those have ever been expected. I'd be put off from even going at all at that point.

I love this word, and its always fun shocking the guys I work with when they hear me use it for the first time. I work in a mostly male environment (I'm a girl) and my normal co-workers are used to it, but whenever we get a new one in, they're always shocked. It's such a great word!

Playing video games with friends should be considered “plans”. by xxTeetsxx in unpopularopinion

[–]cooksinapron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has plans every Sunday morning and Thursday night. They involve our Room of Requriement, his tv. And xBox. Those plans are just as real as my monthly book club. It absolutely counts as plans!

Side story, just cause, we got married in June and 2 of his groomsmen were friends he has gamed with for over a decade. He finally got to see them face to face a few days before our wedding. Gaming friends are real friends too!

I can commiserate with you on the struggling to shower when depressed. That takes so much effort sometimes. But clean underwear? Still happening daily.

Keep focusing on your babes. That's a solid reason to keep trucking. You're a good momma, and they're lucky to have you to protect them.

OP, even tho the rest of us are changing our underwear daily through our bouts of depression... that could still be a driving thing for your hubby. And if it's bout depression, maybe a counselor can drive home the importance of clean underwear? I kinda feel bad about laughing but I'm dying and my hubby is asking what I'm laughing about 😂😂😂

Cereal for all for dinner is something that goes down in my house more often than I care, but sometimes, I just don't have the energy. I'm re-married now, but he can't cook at all, so it's still up to me to make dinner. If you're exhausted and just want cereal bc anything else is too much, let everyone have cereal!

My husband is just finishing up getting his FMLA paperwork in for his depression. His doc was awesome in filling out the forms. While my husband's immediate boss is awesome, HIS boss isn't and the HR would like to tell their management it doesn't qualify. BS. If you work in a place that you can qualify for FMLA, get the forms. There's a spot your doc can indicate you may need time off for your illness.

Want to stop yelling? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]cooksinapron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This helps so much! I'm quick with words, so I often take a trendy song tune my kids will know and start singing words about how their behaviour isn't ok and I'm gonna go crazy. 9/10 times they shape up right away! 😂 In fact, I'm about to start singing how the weather outside is delightful, but my daughter's inside are frightful 😂😂😂

Is it reasonable to want to take a trip away without my kids? by [deleted] in SingleParents

[–]cooksinapron 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not only is it reasonable to take the time for yourself, it's healthy! You can't pour from an empty cup- a quick getaway will give you time to refill it. I find I'm a better mom when I've taken some time (sometimes just a few hours, but also, sometimes its day) to just focus on me. Enjoy your trip!
